The most recent appearance by Celine Dion was followed by the loudest and most widespread criticism and concern from fans. Dion decided to walk the runway at Paris Fashion Week, donning a gown designed by fashion designer, Iris van Herpen, reports India Today. The gown was a stunner, but it was also revealing of the female form and it left even more of Dion's slight frame visible to fans who were critical of her extreme weight loss.
To be fair, Dion rocked the outfit, and the dress was incredibly unique too, but most felt that it wasn't the best choice for Dion and decided body shaming or commenting on her body was acceptable. Twitter and Instagram followers were the harshest critics, with people speculating about all the reasons why Dion would have lost so much weight and be unable to maintain a higher weight.

Acording to Hype Life Magazine, Dion has been open about her recent weight loss, but has always been smaller and had a petite frame. Dion said on "The Dan Wootton Interview" podacst she has never felt healthier, stronger, and more comfortable in her own skin than she does now. Following the loss of her husband, Celine has had a lot of time and energy to refocus and she has decided to concentrate on herself. The singer says she is trying to fill her time with doing the things she has always wanted to try and achieve for herself.
Ballet is an activity and passion for Dion, and over the last few months the singer has dedicated her time and energy to taking full time ballet training, she told ABC News. The additional exercise has added to her weight loss, but she insists it has been a healthy loss of weight and she is stronger on account of the constant exercise and strength training that she has had to undertake in order to remain physically fit and dance.
Before the fashion runway appearance, Celine Dion was already facing criticism about her weight loss and physical appearance. There was so much speculation and many tabloid pieces about her weight loss following promotions for a project she was working on that Dion was forced to address it during press interviews.
Dion started off by shaming her criticizers for trying to body shame her in the first place. Body shaming is a practice that plagues our society and people feed into it just as fast as the media does, but it is not a practice that should be allowed or encouraged. Woman's Day reports that Dion told reporters and broadcasters that she spoke with, that she was happier, healthier, stronger, and more confident than she had ever been in her entire life and career.
Knowing she is not getting any younger, Dion talked on the podcast about the maturity and confidence that comes with age. The singer is still very active on the stage and in the fashion world. Introducing new hobbies, activities, and passions has been integral to Dion's new life without her husband. These are the things Dion wants to focus on, and is hoping fans and the media can respect that.
One thing is certain, Celine Dion is going to continue wearing what she feels strong and confident in, and she is going to do what makes her happy. Every person should be able to do these things in peace, regardless of what others feel looks good on them or is best for them.
