Jul 22, 2019 by apost team

Celine Dion might have just ended a 16-year-long residency in Las Vegas, but the Grammy-Award-winning superstar hasn’t slowed down one bit!

The 55-year-old will embark on a World Tour this September and is due to debut her 27th album, titled Courage, in November.

1. She is one of 14 siblings.

According to her biography on her official website, Celene is the 14th child of Thérèse Tanguay and Adhémar Dion. The Dions enjoyed a humble life with a full house, with Celene reportedly being laid to sleep in a drawer due to the lack of space.

The family was also passionate about music from the early days, reportedly forming a family group that would perform local concerts around Quebec.

2. She first started singing in French

The singer, who is French-Canadian, first started singing in her native French language. In 1980 at the age of 12, she wrote her first song with the help of her mother and brother Jacques, titled "Ce n'était qu'un rêve." She would go on to record numerous French albums that would become successful in Canada.

In 1986, the artist took an 18-month hiatus to master the English language. She finally released her first English album titles “Incognito” in 1987.

3. She represented Switzerland in the Eurovision contest in 1988 - and won

4. She met René Angélil, her late husband when she was just 12 years old.

Dion would meet René Angélil at the age of 12 when he first became her music manager. According to Huffington Post Canada, Dion eventually fell in love with Angélil at around 17-18 years old. Their 26 year age gap, however, would make their love a difficult one to pursue. She revealed to the outlet that her mother was not especially not happy with the couple.

"If I reversed roles -- when I had my first son, RC, if I think of him and he comes [to me] with this lady who has kids and she's 45 and she thinks she knows best, [I'd be] like, 'Take your hand off of my son.'" She admitted.

The couple eventually wed on December 17th, 1994. Angélil passed away at the age of 73, following a long battle with cancer.

5. The couple struggled with having children.

When the couple tried to become pregnant again, Celine admitted to the outlet that they struggled a lot.

"For the twins, I did IVF six times one after the other," she said.

The treatment was eventually successful, and she gave birth to twins Eddy and Nelson in 2010.
