Guy Fieri, colleague and friend to Ruiz, took to Instagram to express his heartbreak over the loss of his fellow Food Network star.

“I’m heartbroken that my friend chef Carl Ruiz is gone,” he wrote. “I have no words to describe what a great friend he was to me and my family.”

“His ability to make me laugh and smile under any circumstances was only outshined by his talent as a chef,” he added.

Ruiz has appeared on multiple shows as a judge alongside Fieri, including "Guy's Ranch Kitchen," "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives," and "Guy's Grocery Games."

Rest in peace to the talent that was gone too soon. Pass the news on to Food Network fans who might not know.
