The love story between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is one that many people are familiar with. However, this hasn’t stopped the couple from revealing more about the behind-the-scenes of their intimate lives together, what their relationship is really like, and the pressures from the royal family.
Prince Harry met US-born actress Meghan Markle in the summer of 2016 through mutual friends. In a cover story for Vanity Fair back in September 2017, she said: "We're in love."
Since relocating to Montecito in Santa Barbara, California, the Sussexes have been busy setting up their own brand, Archewell. Meghan began hosting a podcast called “Archetypes” that “dives into the labels that try to hold women back,” while Harry has been working on his memoir, entitled “Spare,” and described as being “full of insight, revelation, self-examination and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.”
However, since their relationship came about, the two have been under intense public scrutiny by the press because of how controversial Meghan Markle is as a divorced woman marrying a member of the British Royal Family.
In an attempt to speak their own truth to the public, the couple, through a million-dollar deal with Netflix, produced their own documentary, chronicling the start of their relationship and recalling how their romance progressed through the years, among other things.
Apart from their romance, “Harry & Meghan” also delves into their relationships with members of the royal family and the impact and strains the institution has put on their life together.
With the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's revelations and realizations, people, including celebrities and famous personalities, have taken to social media to express their sentiments about the documentary.

Among the first people to give their reaction to “Harry & Meghan” was Grammy-winning singer Maren Morris. Although she admitted that she hadn’t seen the documentary yet, she pointed out that the hatred she saw online feels “very pointed” to one woman, Meghan, noting that history always does that.
“This profound hatred and annoyance at Meghan Markle specifically — mostly coming from women, I have to say — it’s unfathomable to me,” she said in a TikTok video. “People are saying, ‘Oh, a woman should never take a man away from his family.’ Have you seen this family? But I don’t understand this very specific hatred of Meghan herself. I just don’t — I never have.”
Meanwhile, Howard Stern, a very outspoken American radio personality, did not mince his words toward the royal couple but remained sympathetic to the passing of Princess Diana.
“It’s been painful. I don’t — I wouldn’t stay with it, but my wife wants to watch it, so, you know, we have shows we watch, but they come off like such whiny b******. I gotta tell you man, I just don’t get it. Howard Stern said in a statement. “I get Prince Harry being p***** off at the monarchy for his mother. They treated her like s***…I feel bad for Prince Harry, losing his mother and all that.
In the first three episodes of “Harry & Meghan,” Prince Harry compared the life that he and his mother experienced when he was younger. He even likened Meghan to Princess Diana, noting that she sees so much of his mother in his wife. Like Diana, Meghan had been constantly pursued by the British press.

Kathy Griffin also shared her thoughts on the series through an Instagram video and said she was disappointed. She said:
"OK so, what about how they met? I am disappointed, I'm just gonna tell you right to your faces. They met on freaking Instagram. Yeah, Prince Harry was just flipping through Instagram looking for another hot brunette like every other guy in L.A. So I'm disappointed. I thought this was gonna be a great love story."
On the other hand, Piers Morgan, a fierce critic of Meghan, took to Twitter to make a rather descriptive appeal to the head of the monarchy.
“King Charles needs to strip these two poisonous rats of all remaining titles & ties to the Royal Family.. and needs to do it fast before they destroy the Monarchy,” he said in a tweet.
At the time the “Harry & Meghan” documentary was released, an Us Weekly source said that King Charles was “concerned” about the “damage” the documentary would cost their relationship with the British Royal Family. It also noted that it “left a bad taste in Charles’ mouth.”
Television Personality Bethenny Frankel voiced out her displeasure with the show on TikTok shortly after she watched it, firing off on Meghan for allegedly stealing the spotlight.
“It seems like she’s someone who entered into the monarchy and wanted to be in the leading role, and that role was already taken by Kate. So what is the goal? You got the money, you got attention (that) you didn’t want, but you want. If you want to tackle women’s issues and racism, why not do documentaries about that?” she said in a now-viral video.
