Catherine Zeta-Jones Remembers Wonderful Relationship With Late Father-In-Law Kirk Douglas

Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones spoke about her late father-in-law Kirk Douglas in a recent interview with British TV show Lorraine. In the clip, she discussed her closeness with the father of her husband Michael Douglas, as well as marriage and her new lifestyle brand Casa Zeta-Jones.

In the interview, which took place over a video call, Catherine Zeta-Jones looked gorgeous and casual, wearing a loose white blouse with matching white pants. The conversation begins with Catherine discussing her lifestyle brand Casa Zeta-Jones, which will include shoes, before talking about the perks of having a routine, especially in today's climate.

Clearly very at ease with the interviewer, the topic soon moves to her late father-in-law Kirk Douglas, who passed away earlier this year on February 3rd, at the incredible age of 103. She said:

"He was such a man of strength and [had] a life that was so amazing, coming from a ragman's son to becoming Kirk Douglas. For me as a daughter-in-law to be so loved by him and to have such a wonderful relationship with him that I would share...when you meet him, he's one of those men that he is everything that you expect a movie star to be."

She's clearly very fond of her father-in-law and while the news was heartbreaking when he passed, Kirk Douglas had a very long life that was full of success and love. Catherine discussed this further, explaining, "It was a very sad time but Michael was with him right until the end, but I was with him ten days before and you just, you know he looks you in the eye and he said it was time." Catherine and Michael plan to hold a memorial service to honor Kirk's life "when the world opens up" again.

At the time of Kirk's death, Catherine posted a moving tribute on her Instagram page. Sharing a black-and-white photo of her giving Kirk a kiss, she captioned the post:

"To my darling Kirk, I shall love you for the rest of my life. I miss you already. Sleep tight..."

Catherine and Michael's marriage is one of Hollywood's success stories, but so was Kirk's and his second wife Anne Buydens, who were married for over five decades. Catherine commented on having her own parents' marriage as a good example, but also Kirk and Anne's. She said in the same interview:

"I have a great blueprint both with my own parents and Michael's father and stepmother and what good marriage means and how precious that is and how you work at it and sustain it and appreciate it."

Kirk Douglas lived an incredible and long life, and it's wonderful to see him still remembered. Rest in peace to the legendary actor.
