The star-studded actress, Catherine Zeta-Jones was born in September of 1969 in Wales. She grew up with humble beginnings with a father who ran a sweets factory and a mother who was a seamstress. While attending school, Zeta-Jones starred in school productions at a very young age. Eventually, she won a local junior talent competition that gained her some recognition. She often traveled to London as a part of a young girl’s dance group and she even won a national tap dancing competition in her early teen years.
At the young age of 15, she decided to leave school full-time to follow her dreams of becoming an actress. She moved to London where her hard work paid off and she eventually got the film debut she was hoping for. In 1990 she debuted in “1001 Nights,” which kicked off her long-standing acting career. Since then, she has played endless roles.
In the early 1990s, Zeta-Jones soared to fame in the United Kingdom in “The Darling Buds of May”, a period drama in which she played the Larkin family's eldest daughter, Mariette Charlton. Although she might not have been widely known within the United States at the time, by the end of the decade she made a big impression there with her sword-wielding starring role (which required massive skills) in “The Mask of Zorro.”
She has gone on to act in “Oceans Twelve,” “The Terminal,” “No Reservations” and many more classic films that she is known for. She married her husband, Michael Douglas in 2000 and together they have two children. Aside from being an icon, the star shared that she is a fangirl of another very well-known international woman. Zeta-Jones revealed that she is a huge fan of the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton.

In September 2022, the star actress shared a picture of the Princess of Wales on her popular Instagram page. She posted a picture of Kate embracing a little girl out in public. The actress shared a caption that said: “I love our Princess of Wales❤️ I love our Welsh National Costume.❤️”
Zeta-Jones posted this picture nearly one week after she shared a photo of the late Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledged her death. She captioned the photo with, “May you rest in peace Ma’am.”
Both posts by Zeta-Jones received many impressions. The photo of the “Children’s Princess,” has over 14,000 likes and many comments. One social media user said, “So very proud of our new Princess of Wales such a gorgeous photo.” Another wrote on the popular post and said, “I agree with you on both counts!”
The photo posted previously of the iconic late queen has over 11,000 likes and many positive comments as well. Social media users shared the same positive sentiment towards the royal family. Someone commented and said, “#myqueen #somanytears.” Another royal family and Zeta-Jones fan commented on the post and said, “She is already sadly missed beyond description but most deserving of her rest in peace.”
There are many reasons Zeta-Jones is a huge fan of the royal family. Not only is she from Wales but she has also been honored by the royal family themselves for her work in the film industry and charity. She was named a Commander of the British Empire back in 2011.

After the queen passed away in September, Prince William and Kate traveled to Zeta-Jones's hometown in Wales since their title changed from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the Prince and Princess of Wales. While traveling to Swansea, the prince and princess were greeted by a group of children from the 1st Eastside Boys Brigade and Girls Association.
Zeta-Jones made a trip back to her home country in 2019 where, according to Wales Online, she shared that she missed her home country dearly. She said, “What I miss about Swansea is the immediacy of my family and being like ‘this is where we used to do this.’” The award-winning actress went on to say, “I miss enjoying the beauty of Swansea and the familiarity of bumping into childhood friends.” She added, “I’m very honoured and humbled and very happy to share it with my family here in Wales, as well as my friends and mentors throughout the years.”
According to People, while the royal couple visited Zeta-Jones's hometown, the prince expressed how he would like to become more knowledgeable in the culture and language. “He talked about learning Welsh and shared some Welsh phrases he's trying to do,” shared Rev. Steven Bunting of Wales. "He is throwing himself into the new role," Bunting said of the prince. "The fact that they've come straight here on day one says it all,” he added proudly.
With Zeta-Jones's passion for her home country as well as the royal family, it is safe to assume that she is proud of the Prince and Princess of Wales and the work they are doing in her home area.
