Catherine Zeta-Jones And Michael Douglas Respond To Passing Of Kirk Douglas

Kirk Douglas, one of the last remaining actors of the Golden Age of Hollywood, has passed away Wednesday at the remarkable age of 103 in his Beverly Hills, California home.

His family grieves for his passing including his son, Michael Douglas, and daughter-in-law, Catherine Zeta-Jones, fellow actors and close family members.

Michael's wife and Kirk's daughter-in-law Catherine Zeta-Jones also sent out a loving post on Instagram.

"To my darling Kirk, I shall love you for the rest of my life. I miss you already. Sleep tight..."

The caption accompanied a black and white photo of Catherine giving Kirk a sweet smooch on the cheek.

His son Michael announced the sad news on his Instagram while also posting a loving tribute to his dad.

"It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103. To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to."

Michael emphasized Kirk's family life and remembered him as a father and loved one to the Douglas clan first and foremost, concluding the touching post with something he was lucky enough to tell him before death.

"Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad- I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son."

Kirk Douglas lived a storied life starting off in Amsterdam, New York in a family of 7 sisters, a brother and his parents in a state of poverty according to The New York Times.

NPR reports that he worked hard to bring himself out of poverty in odd jobs before landing in the Navy and then on the Broadway stage and then onto an Oscar-winning career, with over 90 film credits including in Stanley Kubrick's "Spartacus" as per the BBC.
