Catherine Bell is a British-American actress, producer, and model. She has been recognized for her talent in the acting industry, as well as her natural beauty and charm.

Finding success in the entertainment industry during her college years, Bell first found jobs as a model for her undeniable beauty and her all-around American girl look, despite being born in England. After spending some time working as a model, she found plenty of success in the United States working as an actress. Although her career had a bit of a slow start and she landed jobs where she received few lines and little recognition, Bell never gave up on pursuing her dream.

After she proved herself as a true star, Bell continued to star in many television series and movies as the years went on. She landed the leading role in a number of shows and picked up even more jobs during her time on series like “JAG,” “Army Wives,” and “Good Witch.”

Bell has found plenty of success in the acting industry due to her determination and perseverance and has made many close friendships during her time in the spotlight while living out her dream. Along with this, she is beautiful both inside and out. Today, Bell is 52 years old and looks just as gorgeous as ever as she has reflected on her long-lasting career and has stayed optimistic about the future ahead of her.

Struggling In The Entertainment Industry

Bell was born on Aug. 14, 1968, in London, England. After her parents divorced when she was just two years old, Bell was raised by her mother and her maternal grandparents. The family eventually moved to the United States and made themselves at home in the state of California, specifically in the San Fernando Valley region. Once she was old enough to go to college, Bell enrolled at UCLA, where she began her pursuit in a career that involved either medicine or research. However, she didn’t stay at the university for too long and dropped out in her second year after being offered the chance to model in Japan, where her beauty would be highly appreciated and well-received.

After spending some time working as a model in Japan, Bell returned to the United States and tried her hand at acting. Luckily for her, her determination and perseverance paid off. She studied at the Beverly Hills Playhouse, an acting school with many trainers and training facilities, where she met Milton Katselas. Katselas was a director and producer for both films and stage plays and worked as an acting coach to many rising stars.

In order to support herself, Bell worked as a massage therapist for eight years at the Peninsula Hotel, and one of her famous clients included the singer Peter Gabriel. Bell later landed her first-ever professional acting role on television in the 1990 sitcom “Sugar and Spice.” In one of the episodes, Bell had one spoken line, which was coincidentally delivered to Gabriel.

Landing Her First Big Role

Bell began picking up more jobs over the years, although they were pretty small roles at first. Most of the time, Bell received few lines or even no lines at all. In fact, she even served as a nude body double for Isabella Rosselini in the 1992 film “Death Becomes Her.” In 1994, Bell starred in “Men of War” alongside Trevor Goddard. The two bonded while filming the movie in Thailand, as they had both had similar medical issues. They had stayed good friends during their time in the spotlight and even worked together again on the television series “JAG.”

Bell landed an extremely small role in one episode of the series “JAG” during its run on NBC. The show centered on the work of the United States Department of the Navy’s Judge Advocate General office. However, the show was canceled but picked up by CBS. With a restructure to the overall series, new roles were added, and Bell auditioned for the role of female Marine Corps lawyer Sarah MacKenzie.

During her long run on the series, Bell was finally able to really prove herself as an actress while showcasing many of her other abilities. She even spoke Persian at times throughout the series. Bell held onto her starring role until the series came to an end in 2005. After being picked up by CBS, “JAG” became more likeable, and many people began watching it, leading to its ratings and popularity going up. Many of the characters and storylines were enjoyable to watch and led to the hit spin-off series “NCIS,” which in turn also had its own successful spin-offs, “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “NCIS: New Orleans.”

Her Time On ‘Army Wives’

Bell portrayed her character Sarah MacKenzie, better known as Mac, from the second season until the final 10th season of “JAG,” as well as on a few episodes of “NCIS: Los Angeles.” “JAG” entered syndication in early 1999 and returned to television in the United States in 2019 through the network WGN America. Following the end of “JAG,” it didn’t take long for Bell to find more work, and she landed yet another starring role in a television series in 2007.

Playing the role of Denise Sherwood in Lifetime’s ensemble drama series “Army Wives,” Bell was further able to prove herself as a serious actress, as the show dealt with many difficult topics. Based on “Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives” by Tanya Biank, Bell portrayed the wife of a U.S. Army lieutenant colonel. Throughout the first season of the series, her character was a victim of domestic violence as she was met with abuse from her teenage son.

“Army Wives” first premiered in June 2007 and had one of the largest series premieres in Lifetime’s history. It became a massive hit with fans and critics alike and went on to receive several award nominations and rave reviews. The series even won five ASCAP Awards and one Gracie Allen Award. The show ran for seven seasons before coming to an end in June 2013. The network canceled the series but aired a two-hour special with many main cast members celebrating their time shared together on the series. The celebration special aired in March 2014.

While “Army Waves” was still on the air, Bell had found more work playing the role of Cassie Nightingale in the Hallmark Channel TV movie “The Good Witch” in 2008. The first film spawned a plethora of sequels, with one coming out each following year until 2014. While playing the starring role, Bell also served as a co-executive producer for all of the movies in the series.

In 2015, a television series based on the hit TV movies was picked up by the Hallmark Channel, with Bell keeping her starring role as Cassie Nightingale. The series found similar popularity to the movies and aired for a total of seven seasons. After holding onto her leading role for 13 years, Bell had to say goodbye to Cassie on July 25, 2021, when “Good Witch” aired its final episode.

After a long run of playing the main character in the “Good Witch” television series and movies, Bell posted an emotional Instagram post expressing her love and gratitude for all the memories she made as Cassie Nightingale. She began her post with a classic Dr. Seuss quote that said, “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened!” Continuing her post, Bell expressed just how much it meant to her to be part of such a long-lasting series of movies and shows.

“I am so grateful for 7 seasons and 13 years (of movies) of being a part of Good Witch, working with the KINDEST and most talented cast & crew, producers, network! It has always felt like a family,” she wrote

Bell also described her character as “a woman who is always positive, inspiring and uplifting.” She also said that Cassie was someone who brought out the best in everyone and has even inspired Bell herself “to be a better person, to be kinder, gentler, more loving and accepting.” Bringing her emotional post to a close, Bell said, “I feel so fortunate,” and explained that she was “definitely smiling because it happened.”

Many of Bell’s fans and co-stars left adoring comments for her on her Instagram post, expressing their love for both the actress and the main character. “Love you and will always love this show,” actor Cameron Mathison wrote, as per Good Housekeeping. “Congratulations! One (of) the best time I had on set,” actress Kathy Najimy wrote. She had been one of the guest stars on “Good Witch.”

James Denton, one of Bell’s co-stars, was also extremely emotional to see the show come to an end. “I’ve been very fortunate to have been on other long-running series, but ‘Good Witch’ was special,” he told Deadline. “The fans were so devoted to the show and I’m disappointed for them, but I hope they know how much the actors appreciated their vocal support.” Denton also expressed how the cast was the “nicest collection of wildly talented people” he had been around and that the producers treated everyone “extremely well.”

While many people had good wishes to send to Bell, many were still sad at Hallmark Channel’s decision to end the long-running stream of movies and TV series. “Sad to see this show end,” one fan commented, as per Good Housekeeping.

Throughout the video, Bell was showcased in a number of scenes from the movies and show throughout the years, with her soft smile and sweet expression notable in almost every shot.

Following her acclaimed fame in various television shows, Bell continued to find work in both movies and TV series. She starred in the Lifetime movie “Last Man Standing” in 2011. She also appeared in a few episodes of “King & Maxwell” in 2013. After years since “JAG” ended, Bell also reprised her role of Mac in a multi-episode arc in the 10th season of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” with episodes airing across the end of 2019 into the beginning of 2020. Bell also landed a few roles while starring in her hit TV series. Some of the other films and shows she has starred in over the years include “Bruce Almighty” in 2003, “The Triangle” in 2005, and “High-Rise Rescue” in 2017.

During her time on the set of the film “Death Becomes Her,” Bell met Adam Beason. Over the span of his career in the entertainment industry, Beason has worked as an actor, writer, producer, and assistant director. Bell and Beason hit it off and began dating before tying the knot on May 8, 1994. They worked together on a few more projects, including “JAG” and “Last Man Standing.” Together they had two children, Gemma and Ronan, and lived in a mini-mansion in Calabasas, California, until 2010. After they sold their house, the couple had announced their separation, and their divorce was finalized in 2011.
