Cat Saved From The Streets, Refuses To Leave Her Kitten Who Looks Exactly Like Her

Angel was a stray calico cat who rescuers had found in Pompano Beach, Florida. According to one of the rescuers, Vivian Schwartz, Angel had given birth to a litter of kittens on a sandy and dirty floor under a tarp.

At around six months old, Angel was just a kitten herself and thus needed help with her babies. Vivian took it upon herself to bottle-feed the smaller kittens and give them supplements. With her help, all five kittens survived and thrived.

Three of the kittens were orange tabbies, and another was black and white. The fifth kitten, however, was a calico who looked like a miniature version of her mother. The rescuers thus dubbed her Baby Calico.

The kittens quickly grew up, and all of them were quickly adopted out – except for Baby Calico, who happily remained with her mother. Baby Calico adored Angel, who doted on her in return, and cuddled and licked her all day long.

Angel taught Baby Calico the ins and outs of being a cat, and Baby Calico did her best to copy her mother’s behavior. Baby Calico follows her mother everywhere and plays with her tail. She sleeps in her mother’s arms when napping.

Angel, for her part, guards Baby Calico and stays by her. If the duo is separated, they will promptly look for each other. Even though Baby Calico is now old enough to groom herself, Angel continues to bathe her.

As the cats are obviously a bonded pair, Vivian wants them to go to the same home. A calico, for the record, isn’t a specific cat breed. The word actually describes a coat pattern. Calico cats, which are also sometimes called tricolored cats, have white coats with black and orange blotches. Thanks to the quirks of cat genetics, calicos are nearly always female. They are also considered bringers of good luck in many parts of the world.
