Cat Returned To Shelter After New Owner 'Can't Stand' His Snuggly Demeanor

by apost team

When some people think about cute, lovable, cuddly pets, they think about dogs. Meanwhile, lots of people see cats as aloof, standoffish, and finicky.

If you're one of those people, you might be surprised to learn that cats can be just as sweet, loving, and attached to their owners as dogs.

Take Jacque, for example. The ginger tabby thought he lucked out by getting adopted...but then his new owner returned him for being too cuddly!

The poor kitty is used to bad luck. When he was just a kitten, his original owner abandoned him. Their house was foreclosed on, but instead of taking Jacque with them, they left him behind in the empty home.

Jacque was there by himself until a realtor found him and took him to a Michigan shelter. His luck didn't change. No one seemed to want Jacque, and he was put on the kill list.

Nancy Hutchinson, the president of Michigan Cat Rescue, happened to spot Jacque. When he climbed onto her lap for some love, she pulled him from the original overcrowded shelter.

Jacque's luck seemed to be changing when he was adopted almost right away. The rescue thought that he'd finally found a forever home.

It wasn't to be. A year later, he was returned. Why did the adopter bring Jacque back to the rescue? Not because he was trouble. Not because he misbehaved.

Nope. Jacque was abandoned once again because he wanted to sit in his owner's lap too often. According to the rescue, the person found it "very annoying." He said, "He’s constantly trying to sit in my lap -- I just can’t stand it anymore. I’ll have to return him to you -- this is not what I signed up for."

Being rejected again hurt Jacque a lot. He was too stressed to eat, and the stress led to a compromised immune system. He developed a severe upper respiratory infection.

Luckily for Jacque, a family heard about his struggles and knew that this snuggly, cuddly lap kitty was perfect for their home.

He's finally been adopted into a forever home, where he can get all the hugs and cuddles he could ask for.
