Carrie Underwood Will Release First-Ever Christmas Album 'My Gift' — "It's Been A Long Time Coming'

Country singer Carrie Underwood just announced that she will be publishing her first-ever Christmas album. The record is called “My Gift” and comes out on September 25th.
Even though it’s only July, the country star seems to be in the Christmas spirit as she revealed the big news about her upcoming album on her Twitter on Monday, July 20:
“I realize we’re in the middle of a summer heatwave, but I couldn’t wait to tell you….at long last, my very first Christmas album #MyGift is coming September 25! So much love has gone into this and I cannot wait to share it with you!”

While Underwood has recorded covered multiple Christmas songs in the past, “My Gift” will be her first-ever Christmas album. In a press release on her website, the singer revealed that this album had always been a dream of hers.
“I’ve always wanted to make a Christmas album and it’s been a long time coming,” Underwood explained. “I knew this would be my next music project after wrapping my tour last year, and I think it’s turned out to be the perfect time for an album like this, in this period of such personal and spiritual reflection.”
The country star also revealed why this Christmas album means so much to her and why she feels like the current situation makes it more important than ever to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas:
“For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this,” she said. “Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times, and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters.”
Underwood also released an album trailer that features behind-the-scenes footage from the recording studio and the album’s cover photoshoot. In the trailer, the country star also revealed how she got the inspiration for the album’s title from the song “Little Drummer Boy” that tells the story of a poor boy who wanted to leave a gift for baby Jesus but had nothing to give except the gift of him playing his drums. This inspired Underwood to name her album “My Gift”:
”I love music, I love singing and that is my personal gift that I have that I get to do, that I’m so blessed to do and I wanna use that gift and I wanna give it back to Jesus.
