After winning American Idol in 2005, Carrie Underwood has become one of America’s biggest country superstars. Her first ever single, "Inside Your Heaven," became a huge hit and actually caused Underwood to become the first and only country singer whose debut single reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The country singer has broken many other Billboard records ever since and was honored with 7 Grammy Awards throughout her career. Today, she is amongst the best selling female artists of all time.

In September 2019, Underwood gave a sold-out concert at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on a day that marked the 15th anniversary of her American Idol audition. In honor of that special day, the country singer to a moment to think back and reflect on how that one experience changed her life forever:

"When I was a little girl … if you had asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I would have told you I wanted to be a famous country music singer," Underwood told the audience, as The Tennessean reports.  "As I got older, dreams tend to give way to practicalities, so I started going to school to get a real job. One day there was an open door, and I walked through it and my life was changed forever."

Underwood then took the opportunity to share one piece of advice with her fans:

"If there is something you guys out there are holding on to that just seems like too big of a dream or something too crazy, I'm living proof that the craziest things can happen, and you can end up exactly where you always wanted to be," the country singer concluded.
