A dog in Florida locked himself in a car, somehow put the car in gear, and drove around in the street in circles for at least an hour.

Last Thursday, as Fox News reported, neighbors in a Florida neighborhood were stunned when they saw a dog sitting in the car’s driver seat going around in circles in the area.

Max, a black lab, managed to get himself locked in his owner’s car, according to the Port. St. Lucie Police Department. Not only did the lab lock himself in the car, but he managed to get the vehicle into reverse. Max then drove the 2003 Mercury Sable in circles for more than an hour.

Anne Sabol, one of the neighbors, who saw the event, told WPBF that she saw someone backing up in the neighborhood. But the vehicle kept on going. The next thing you know, someone in the neighborhood called the cops, who showed up quickly after being summoned.

Max’s owner left him in the Sable to run into the house for just a minute. When Max's owner came back out of the house, his car was being driven by the black lab. The car fob was low on batteries, so Max’s owner couldn’t unlock the door, according to the police report.

Police eventually unlocked the car’s door by using a code and keypad on the car’s door. No serious injuries occurred during the dog’s driving of his master’s car. A mailbox was destroyed, so the car’s owner will replace it. Max was happy to get out of the vehicle once the door when the door became open. The neighbors seemed suitably impressed by his driving skills.

"When the cops got the door open, a black dog jumped out, I was like, ‘They should give that thing a license,'" Anne Sabol told WPBF.
