Candid Photographs Show Royal Family Members In Their Teenage Years

Aug 02, 2022 by apost team

The royals are known for their public engagements, charitable works and incredible sense of style. One thing that may sometimes be overlooked is their lives as normal mothers and fathers. The royal family is quite large. Queen Elizabeth II and the late Prince Phillip have four children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Many family members have been in the public eye since birth, while others have been in the spotlight since marrying into the royal family.

Most people are familiar with Prince William and Prince Harry, as well as their wives and children. However, there are many other members of the family, with several new additions in just the past couple of years.

Whether it is a hug or another gesture of love, it is so nice to see the happy moments between royal parents and their children. It makes the royals seem accessible to us and shows their soft and gentle side. It is a reminder that even royal family members are just people and that they want to spend time with their families like anyone else.

We love seeing family resemblances when it comes to celebrities but are overjoyed when we can find the same in the royal family. While we know that the great-grandchildren of the Queen have taken after her in many ways, we rarely hear about adult royals resembling their closest family. So it is amazing when an older photo is compared to the newer ones, and we suddenly see the family genes show up in a big way.

Many pictures of the Queen at various ages have shown how beautiful she has always been and how mischievous and cheeky she was during her younger years. The Queen was 13 when she met then-18-year-old Prince Philip for the first time in 1939. According to Express, the two young lovebirds wrote letters to one another for many years until Phillip finally asked King George for Elizabeth’s hand in marriage in 1946.

"To have been spared in the war and seen victory, to have been given the chance to rest and to re-adjust myself, to have fallen in love completely and unreservedly, makes all one's personal and even the world's troubles seem small and petty," read a letter Philip wrote to the Queen that year, according to O Magazine.

The Queen and Philip welcomed four children: Prince AndrewPrince EdwardPrince Charles and Anne, Princess Royal. Anne began to accompany her parents on royal engagements and tours when she became old enough. During a state visit to Austria in 1969, when Anne was about 19 years old, she was seen wearing matching gloves and sashes to those of her mother. The Queen and Anne flaunted their similar sense of style as they appeared at the UK film premiere of "Murder On The Orient Express" in London in 1974 in matching tonal blue dresses as they shared a sweet hand-holding moment.

Anne has two children of her own: Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall. Peter was the first legitimate grandchild of a monarch to be born without a title in more than 500 years, according to the BBC. Zara, an equestrian, began pursuing her passion at a young age and has since won several honors, including a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Next in line of succession to the throne is Charles. Prior to being with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the Prince of Wales was married to the late Princess Diana. Together, they welcomed sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

From a young age, Harry had similar interests to his grandfather, including hunting, riding, and serving his country. As he grew up, his interest in military service matured, and in 2005, he enrolled at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He served for 10 years and officially ended his duties in May 2015.

Royal photographer Chris Jackson posted a photo showing the uncanny resemblance between grandfather and grandson. The 1957 vintage picture of the Duke of Edinburgh was striking as he wore the same military uniform Harry was seen in 2018, according to The Sun

Harry and William have been in the public eye since their births. Unfortunately, the pair encountered some hardships, both within their brotherly relationship and within their family unit. William was 15 when Diana died, while Harry was two weeks shy of his 13th birthday.

However, the brothers were both able to thrive during their younger years. William attended many independent schools and was privately tutored. He also participated in clubs and sports such as cross country running, football and clay pigeon shooting.

Both William and Harry now have their own families. William is married to Kate Middleton, and they have three children together, while Harry is married to Meghan Markle, with whom he has two kids.
