Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince Charles's romance and ultimate marriage was not an easy road. Even on the day, the couple were finally set to tie the knot, Camilla was almost not able to attend. An illness along with cold feet almost kept the duchess from missing out on her wedding day.

In the book “The Duchess - The Untold Story” by Penny Juror she explains how Camilla almost missed tying the knot with Prince Charles back in 2005. “Camilla was not well on the day of the wedding,” Juror wrote as cited by the Express. Apparently Camilla had come down with sinusitis the week leading up to her big day.

“Several friends had come to see her and they had had girly evenings in their dressing gowns, while Lucia Santa Cruz, who had introduced her to Charles all those years ago, came to administer homemade soup,” Juror wrote as cited by Express

Camilla’s friend Lucia told Juror in the book that, “She was terrified Camilla wasn’t going to get to the wedding, ‘she was really ill, stressed.’” As the wedding day arrived, Juror said it took four people to get Camilla out of bed.

“She still wasn’t feeling well, but now it was more nerves than sinusitis that kept her under the duvet,” Juror said. “She was terrified.”

The road to Camilla and Charles’ eventual union was full of twists and turns, it was no wonder Camilla felt nervous about her wedding day. Charles and Camilla first met in the 1970s leading Camilla to become the “other woman” during Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage.

Both Charles and Camilla went through divorces before the couple could finally wed nearly 35 years later. Camilla did ultimately attend her wedding and she and Charles have been together for 14 years and counting.
