Camilla, Duchess Of Cornwall Shows Her Personal Family Photos With Peek Inside Royal Home

May 05, 2021 by apost team

Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles live in Clarence House, London, which is their official royal residence away from their Highgrove House in Gloucestershire. The former is Prince Charles' working residence, while the latter is the home that the couple share. There have been small glimpses into both the homes in the past, but most recently, Camilla shared a rare look inside her private quarters of Clarence House in a new photo shared to promote her Reading Room. On the official @duchessofcornwallsreadingroom, Camilla shared a photo of her having a conversation with novelist Edna O'Brien.

Charles and Camilla celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on 9 April 2021. Prince Charles' Royal Website reported that the couple shares four different royal residences, but they spend the most time in Clarence House and Highgrove House. The Birkhall is another home, a private residence of Charles and Camilla, located in Scotland. The garden in Birkhall is quite beautiful, and Charles and Camilla used it as a backdrop for their Christmas card in 2020. Their final home is a mouthful: Llwynywermod is the Prince and Duchess' Welsh home.

Clarence House, of course, is the official residence for Charles' royal duties. Interestingly, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip lived in Clarence House for a few years after their wedding and before Elizabeth took the throne. There have been a few photos over the years of the homes, but the private quarters have rarely been seen in official photos. The photograph on Instagram, uploaded on May 4, 2021, shows the warm and cozy room, and gives royal fans a look into Camilla's personal touch in decorating her rooms.

Hello Magazine reported that Clarence House is largely filled with pastel colors and classic wooden furniture. In a recent photo on the @duchessofcornwallsreadingroom, Camilla has given a peek into her taste in interior decoration and furniture and also revealed that she loves elephant ornaments. The photo shows a large silver elephant on display on a wooden sideboard and is next to a teal vase. The snap also features an oval table in front of the window that has three photos on display, as well as a small vase of fresh flowers and three more small silver elephants. The duchess is in conversation with novelist Edna O'Brien.

The caption on the photograph refers to elephants as well, and reads, "Is it our imagination? Or is the elephant earwigging? A moment from when The Duchess met Edna O'Brien...and a hint of things to come over the next couple of weeks."

Hello Magazine reports that the elephants may be a sentimental tribute to her patronage of the Elephant Family charity, which was co-founded by her late brother Mark Shand in 2002. Mark Shand died tragically in an accident in 2014, and since then, Camilla has been carrying on his efforts for the charity by raising money and awareness for the cause. Her efforts include hosting the Elephant Family’s Animal Ball as well as housing four life-size sculptures of elephants at the couple's Highgrove home in 2020 to honor the charity’s environmental art exhibition, CoExistence. It is clear that Camilla loves and values her family.

Of the three photos are present on the oval table in the Instagram photo of the room, one of the photos appears to be a christening, but it is not exactly clear who is in the picture.

Another framed photo shows the Duchess and Charles moments after they tied the knot in 2005. The couple had a civil wedding ceremony as well as a Service of Prayer and Dedication at St. George's Chapel. There are slight variations on reports about the couple’s first meeting, although rumor has it that they first met in the early '70s. As per the BBC’s report, Charles first saw Camilla Shand in 1970 in Windsor Great Park at a polo match. The relationship between Camilla and Charles was infamous particularly because of the infidelity on all sides.

An intimate conversation between Charles and Camilla was exposed in early 1993, which confirmed that the couple had an illegitimate relationship. The tapes were recorded in 1989, and their exposure caused great humiliation for the royal family. A copy of the conversation was published by The Mirror, and the exposé enclosed within eventually led to the end of Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage, as well as Camilla and her husband's marriage. Camila filed for divorce in January 1995, and Diana and Charles finally divorced in August 1996. The public fallout between Charles and Diana was brutal for Charles and Camilla's public image.

Despite the difficulties that came their way, the two of them remained committed to each other and over the years have shown that they share a deep love and respect that has continued to keep them strong. This is clear in the second photo on the oval table, which shows Charles wrapping his arm lovingly around his wife as he smiles while Camilla rests her head on his shoulder.
