Cameron Diaz Is Hands-On With Household Chores Such As Cooking And Cleaning Despite Earning Millions

For someone as big as Cameron Diaz, most people would think that she probably has people at home do everything for her considering she earns millions of dollars. But it appears Diaz still loves to keep her hands on everything at home – including cooking food.

Diaz was one of Hollywood's top actresses for years, but more recently, she stepped away from the spotlight. At the height of her career, Diaz was one of the most sought-after celebrities and starred in major blockbusters such as "Charlie's Angels," the "Shrek" franchise, "The Holiday" and "Bad Teacher" among a myriad of other titles that have cemented her reputation as a Hollywood A-lister. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Diaz's career was so huge that in 2013 she was the highest-paid female actor over 40. 

She has been married to musician Benji Madden of the band Good Charlotte since 2015, and the pair welcomed their first child together, Raddix, in 2019. Diaz explained that she wanted to simplify her life, as she constantly required numerous other people to help manage standard daily tasks.

In April 2020, Diaz talked about what it’s like being a first-time mom, saying she couldn’t be more grateful for the chance to experience what she described as the “best thing ever.”

"I love being a mother. It's the best, best, best part of my life," she said on Power’s  Instagram Live, as quoted by Entertainment Tonight. "I'm so grateful and so happy and it's the best thing ever and I'm so lucky to do it with Benj and we're having the best time. I'm thrilled. I can't believe it,” she added.

Diaz might have earned millions of dollars from doing movies, but she sure does love doing household chores. Apart from taking care of her baby, she also cleans and cooks at home.

"I'm either cooking, cleaning or taking care of my baby — and usually all at the same time," Diaz said. "I have to cook at night. I know people hate cooking … I drink (wine) every night it's my wind down for the day,” she added.

For Diaz, cooking is her way of relaxing alongside drinking wine after everything she needs to do with her husband, whom she described as an “amazing father.”

“After we do bath time with our baby and we put her to sleep, Benji puts her to bed. He's so good. He's such an amazing father. I'm so lucky he's my baby's father. He's incredible. He puts her down and I go into the kitchen and I pour myself a nice glass of red wine. I start my cooking, I put on my show, whatever it is,” she said.

Diaz revealed that her Sundays are reserved for cooking. “Cooking is very relaxing for me. My Sundays used to be all-day cooking. Now, I have a nine-month-old, so now I do it during nap time or when I put her down for the night,” she told Architectural Digest, as per Yahoo, in an interview back in October 2020.

In November 2021, she appeared on Good Morning America to share with her everyone how they can repurpose their leftovers from their Thanksgiving celebrations.

Diaz, who also talked about her passion for cooking during her guest appearance on the show, revealed that she doesn't just cook food for the sake of eating. She also wants to promote products – including her wine business – that will not harm people’s health.

“Food is my passion. I love food. I have Avaline wine that I started a year ago with my friend Katherine Power,” she said. “We realized that we didn’t really know what was in the bottle of the wine that we were drinking,” she remarked.

Diaz said she wanted to know what was in her wine because she wanted to know what was in all aspects of her consumption, including buying only grocery items that are organic.

“So, we kinda dove into the wine-making process and found out that there are over 70 ingredients that can be added without any oversight or transparency, at the very least,” she revealed. 

In December 2022, Diaz appeared on her bestie Drew Barrymore’s show, where she showed everyone how she makes her famous shallot gold. Barrymore said she would always ask Diaz to prepare it whenever she would come over to their house. “The only reason you guys come over is it,” Diaz told Barrymore.

But what exactly does Diaz love to cook for her guests? Well, it’s everything in between and ranges from steak to fish to veggies to pasta.

“I love to grill, so I love to have a protein for everyone, usually steaks, or lamb chops, or a fish. And then I throw a few seasonal veggies on, too. Then, a couple of salads — either hearty with cabbages or fresh and bright with a citrus — and a big bowl of simple pasta. I love having a quinoa pasta with olive oil and garlic or veggies,” Diaz told Goop in an interview.
