Sometimes the biggest heroes in life are right in front of us.

Earlier this year, Colette Kingston’s elderly mother hit her head after she fell when attempting to grab her trash can from the end of her driveway. The 88-year-old woman named Opal suffers from dementia.

As reported by WDAF-TV, Colette decided to install a security camera to monitor Opal in her home in Independence, Missouri. Colette knew that this would be a good way to keep in close touch with her mother so that she felt confident that she was doing well as she went about her daily routine.

After some time monitoring the system, Colette noticed that one of the neighborhood sanitation workers was always interacting with her mother. At first glance, Colette simply thought that the garbage collector was just being friendly.

However, after close examination, Colette realized that this particular worker was going above and beyond the call of duty to treat her mother with an outstanding amount of kindness and respect.

It is easy to understand why Colette was so moved by how kindly this worker treated her fragile mother. In fact, she was so touched by the interactions that she told WDAF-TV that she was actually moved to tears. She was determined to find out who the kind worker was so that she could thank him for his service.

The interaction was a learning experience for Colette as she realized that these workers most often go unnoticed. But we don't think she's ever going to forget this particular sanitation worker.

Now you can understand why it meant so much to Colette to see this sanitation worker help her mother. Be sure to spread this clip of kindness to everyone in your social network.
