Millions of dogs get sent to animal shelters every year. All of them are looking for their forever homes. You might be shocked to learn that more than 600,000 dogs a year are being put down.

Because of this, animal shelters everywhere want to ask everyone to please consider adoption over buying a dog at a pet shop. So many dogs are waiting for their new homes.

Many of them are dogs who have gotten lost and have been waiting too long for their owners to find them. Some are victims of abuse. Others have been abandoned because their owners became sick or elderly and cannot care for them anymore. They are desperate for a fresh start.

Benny, a male pit bull who lived at the Carson Animal Care Center in California, didn’t know that he could soon be put down. Benny greets everyone that he sees enthusiastically, probably with the hopes that he can leave with them.

However, Benny was still in his cage a month after being brought to the shelter. He wasn’t sure what was going to happen to him.

Luckily, a new family was eager to save him from certain death. They wanted to adopt Benny and make him part of their family forever. The staff entered the cage and Benny began to wag his tail in excitement. When he saw the red leash, he allowed a staff member to put it on him.

There aren’t any words that can describe how happy Benny felt after he walked out of his cage. Benny was even more ecstatic when his new family greeted him. He was free and ready to go to his new home. Benny jumped and pranced with more energy than he probably had the whole time he was at the shelter.

Benny jumped around as his new family led him out the door towards his new life.

You can see that Benny missed exploring life. He sniffs almost every corner he comes to while his new family patiently waits for him. Benny finally has the family he has always dreamed about!

Check out this moment where Benny realizes he is on his way to his forever home. Make sure to have the tissues ready as you experience his joy first-hand!

We hope this encourages you to adopt from a local shelter. So many animals need your help. Let us know what you think and pass this along to family and friends.
