After a long day, going to a restaurant with your family can be just the respite one needs. From exploring different cuisines to spending quality time with our friends and loved ones, a restaurant offers a lot of options for different kinds of people. The type of restaurant commands how a person should dress and act within it, however; a 5-star restaurant has an entirely different ambiance to it than a fast-food restaurant. Needless to say, most people would like to feel comfortable wherever they go to eat, and this comfort is something that most restaurants put above others when it comes to their policies.

One restaurant in California had to implement strict rules after young teens had consistently made running their restaurant difficult. Teens can be unruly at times, but the Red Rooster Burgers & Brew restaurant in Garden Valley, California had had enough of dealing with teens and youngsters. The staff described the behavior that had been putting up with ina. Facebook post, and clearly laid down their reasoning for implementing their strictest rule yet: no kids under 18 years of age could come to the restaurant without a parent accompanying them.

This is certainly a hard stance to take — not all teens would want to be considered a "kiddo," but based on the Facebook post by the restaurant, most people who read about what was happening agreed with the restaurant's new rules. The Facebook posting was added on 24 Sept. 2021, and it has already garnered hundreds of comments and interactions.

In their Facebook post, Red Rooster Burgers & Brew wrote, "It is with GREAT sadness that we have made the decision to not permit underage kiddos in the restaurant without a parent or legal guardian for the following reasons..."

Some of the reasons included "Skateboarding on the patio after being asked not to," "Ketchup and mustard being squirted into the opposite bottles and into masks and other places, then strewn around the dining area," "Fries thrown at our employees," "Stealing soda from the fridge and fountain," and "Deterring other customers from dining with us because of the noise and foul language / behavior."

Essentially, the kids were showing "Overall disrespect for the restaurant," which led to these rules being made mandatory. The restaurant also uploaded a photo with the post that stated, "Notice: Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian."

They voiced the steps they took to reduce this type of behavior: "For the last 2 years we have spoken to kiddos and voiced our concerns numerous times!"

Even with this rule, the restaurant posted an understanding comment in their long message, writing, "Then, we implemented rules so they could still feel like they had a place to go, feel safe, and hang with their friends. It's very clear to us that the bad behavior is not going to end."

The message continued, "If you have a kiddo that needs a safe place to be after school please reach out to us. It is not our intent to exile the youth in our community but to protect our property. Some of their actions are unlawful and we won't allow it."

The restaurant also wrote that there have been issues of vandalism around the area, which has led to them having to install security cameras to catch those who are responsible for such acts. They ended their post by writing, "We live in such a quaint beautiful town. I wish it didn't have to be this way."

There have been many comments left by people who have visited the restaurant before, and almost all of them are very supportive of the restaurant's actions.

One user wrote, "I witnessed this behavior first hand as a customer there with my daughter(28 years). We got our order to go. Several parents were just letting the kids act rudely. There are some amazing kids on this mountain, parents step up and teach your kids manners! I’m sorry behavior caused your business so much trouble."

Another person chimed in, "As a parent this [is] great, as a member of a family owned restaurant this is AMAZING to stand up for your business!!"

Most commenters voiced their concerns about the state of youth currently, and the blatant lack of respect they show to everyone. "Good! I hope some parents start educating their kids like they should be. Anyone angry at this just proves that many perents today don't take responsibility for their kids actions," another commenter wrote.

Overall, the residents of Garden Valley, California have been understanding of the restaurant's new rule, and hope that this can enforce better behavior in teens and youngsters who have made the restaurant's service difficult over the last few years.
