In March 2016, a homeless man entered Abi’s Cafe in Minneapolis, Minnesota and directly asked her for money. Instead of turning him away, she invited him to stay for the day.

The 25-year-old owner of "Abi's Cafe", Cesia Abigail Baires, told Fox News that instead of just giving him a few dollars or some food, she wanted to know about him. She spoke with the man who she had seen out on the streets a few times before.

The homeless man whose name is Marcus told Cesia that he was a convicted felon and was having a hard time finding work. Cesia had an idea—because she was short-staffed that day, would Marcus be interested in filling in as a dishwasher for a few hours? Marcus's face lit up and Cesia told reporters that when that happened it "made her heart smile."

Cesia gave him a warm meal before he started his new job, and Marcus turned right around and shared it with a homeless friend outside. From then on, Cesia made the decision to keep coming. A short afternoon turned into two weeks of work.

Marcus was reportedly a great employee and turned up to the job on time. Word caught on and his friends would come in just to see if he was really working.

A friend of Marcus' named Amanda told reporters that Cesia treats everyone the same way and doesn't judge anyone. She didn't even check Marcus' criminal background. Cesia is clearly a kind-hearted person who believes in people, and we need more of her in the world.
