Allen Lovegreen was on the bus heading home from school when he realized he was choking. His brother stood up and alerted the bus driver, who promptly jumped into action. Carolyn Goering quickly ran to the back of the bus and performed the Heimlich maneuver on the choking child, successfully dislodging the piece of food from his throat.

Allen said that he thought he was going to die when he was choking, which was a realistic outcome if it had not been for the heroic actions of Carolyn.

Not too many bus drivers are required to know CPR, but it is a great thing that Carolyn has been trained in the past. She told FOX she has kids and grandkids and that it is her responsibility to get the kids safely to and from school. She said she didn't think about it while it was happening and just did what she had to do.

“I was just thinking these are kids that I’m entrusted with every day,” she said. “It’s my job to get them to and from home safely.”

One of the best things about this story is the fact that it was all caught on security camera, which shows Carolyn running to the back of the bus and dislodging the stuck piece of food in Allen's throat.

Her heroism is evident in the video and she has been getting thanks and recognition for doing what she did.

The company that Carolyn works for is extremely happy and thankful that she knew CPR and was quick enough on her feet to jump to action. They have stated that they are thinking about implementing a plan that would require other bus drivers to be proficient and certified in CPR.

This is a policy that should be standard when it comes to working with children, based on the fact that these situations happen all the time.

If more people who work with children were certified in CPR, there is no question that a ton of bad situations can be averted.

Children are more susceptible to things such as choking, which is why it would be such a great thing if schools and other organizations that work with kids would implement such policies. However, it isn't just kids that can benefit from more people knowing how to do CPR.

You never know when something bad is going to happen, so it is an amazing thing to get certified in CPR. If you want to get certified, there are classes that are held frequently in all major cities.
