Bus driver Chanaye Brown began what she thought would be a typical day's work. Little did she know the harrowing event that would take place shortly after her morning route began. As a conscientious driver for the Milwaukee County Transit System, she was about to stumble upon a true emergency on that fateful winter day.

As she drove along, something strange caught Chanaye's attention. It was a bright orange blaze coming from the window of an apartment building. Because it was still very early in the morning, it appeared that no one inside the building even realized that it was on fire. Chanaye realized she needed to stop her bus and possibly help anybody inside as she told Inside Edition.

As one of her passengers alerted emergency services on a cell phone, Chanaye got out of her bus and quickly approached the burning building. She immediately started ringing doorbells and knocking on doors as loudly as she could to warn everyone who may be in the apartment building about the fire. That's when she heard a sound that drove her to desperate measures. She heard children's voices.

As a mom herself, Chanaye couldn't bear the thought of those frightened kids being trapped inside. "That's what made me start getting a little bit louder, just yelling trying to get everybody's attention," she told Inside Edition.

In an effort to save those inside, she rushed into the building and attempted to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

The fire trucks pulled up soon afterward and were able to successfully put out the fire. Thanks in large part to the efforts of this dedicated bus driver, no one who lived inside the apartment building was hurt.

Building residents, members of the fire department, and the local community were all grateful to this incredible woman for her lifesaving efforts.
