Anyone who watches even a snippet of the annual Westminster Dog Show knows how adorable it is watching these precious pups give it their all in the hopes of being crowned a winner.

The heartwarming event showcases some of the most vivacious and well-trained dogs doing incredible feats like running highly complex agility courses. Each year, certain breeds are expected to win events that pertain to their breed.

One of the most special things about the annual Westminster Dog Show is the chance to cheer for an underdog – pun intended. This year, one special dog stole the hearts of fans with his exuberant energy as he dazzles viewers during his run at the agility course.

The course divides dog breeds by height, simply changing the heights of various obstacles. There are certain breeds that tend to excel in their height groups each year. While this year’s winner was, unsurprisingly, a Border Collie this show’s real superstar of the agility course was a spunky bulldog named Rudy.

Bulldogs are best known for their ability in snoozing on the couch or snoring heavily in their doggie bed. When Rudy trotted onto the agility course, no one expected him to give the more traditionally-fast breeds a run for their money.

Rudy wowed the audience as he flew through the agility course with grace and unbelievable speed, defying the stereotypes of the bulldog breed. The course took him just 50 seconds to complete, an amazing time for a breed not commonly known for agility or speed. He also had minimal faults on the agility course.

The video clip of Rudy’s triumph over the agility course instantly went viral, winning the hearts of people all over the world.

People fell in love with Rudy’s peppy spirit and showed their love for him via social media. Fans commented on the video of Rudy. One fan even commented that he had no idea you could actually train bulldogs and he has two bulldogs of his own.

While Rudy didn’t end up winning in his height group, he certainly won the hearts of thousands of fans. Stories like these show that whether you’re running a marathon or competing for that corner office at work, it isn’t all about the end result. Rather, it’s about the effort and energy you put into being the best you can be.
