Demi Moore has been a Hollywood actress for decades, ever since becoming a member of the so-called Brat Pack in the 1980s. Her roles in that decade include ensemble movies such as "St. Elmo's Fire," "About Last Night..." and more. But it wasn't until 1990, when she appeared in "Ghost" with Patrick Swayze, that she had her leading lady breakthrough. The role garnered her a lot of praise and even earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
Ever since then, she's dominated the screen appearing in movies such as "A Few Good Men," "Striptease" and "G.I. Jane." At one point in the late 1990s, she was the highest-paid actress in Hollywood at the time. She later enjoyed a resurgence with supporting roles in movies including "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and "Rough Night."
Along the way, Moore has also opened up about the personal struggles that she's faced, especially following her divorces. She has been married to musician Freddy Moore and actors Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher. Willis is an iconic movie star, starring in films such as "The Sixth Sense," "Pulp Fiction," "Looper" and the "Die Hard" franchise.
He and Moore were married for several years and had three beautiful daughters together. However, their Hollywood romance was not as romantic behind the scenes, and the pair divorced in 2000 after 13 years together. Since then, Willis has remarried and is still married to model Emma Heming. However, many fans are still intrigued by what exactly happened between Moore and Willis and their complicated love story yet great co-parenting skills.

The year 1987 is when Moore and Willis' former love story began. According to Us Weekly, the pair tied the knot in November that year after previously meeting at the premiere for the film "Stakeout" just a few months earlier. Afterward, they started a beautiful family together and welcomed three daughters into the world: Rumer, born in 1988, Scout, born in 1991 and Tallulah, born in 1994.
While Moore and Willis appeared to be happy in the public eye, there were some complications behind the scenes. They shocked the world in June 1998 when they announced their separation and filed for divorce two years later. According to Us Weekly, their divorce was finalized the same day they submitted their paperwork in October 2000.
However, Willis admitted that he didn't know why their marriage failed. He said:
"I still love Demi. We're very close. We have three children whom we will continue to raise together, and we're probably as close now as we ever were. We realize we have a lifelong commitment to our kids. Our friendship continues. The institution has been set aside… It's difficult to live your life and marriage under a magnifying glass, which is what happens to movie star couples."
Moore later opened up about the issues within her marriage to Willis in her memoir "Inside Out." As per Showbiz CheatSheet, she wrote, "We had a whirlwind, truncated infatuation that morphed into a full-on family, all in our very first year. When reality set in, I don't know if we really knew each other."

Years later, the former couple proved that even though they weren't great romantic partners, they were great co-parenting partners. In 2019, Moore said, "It's a funny thing to say, but I'm very proud of our divorce." She added, "I think that we did a magnificent job of making sure that our children knew they were loved."
Over the years, Moore and Willis each engaged in other relationships. Moore was married to Kutcher for eight years, and he became a step-father to her three children. Willis also remarried once and is still married to Heming. The two have since welcomed two daughters of their own.
Fortunately, this blended family seems to get along extremely well. Back in March 2021, Moore celebrated International Women's Day by uploading a picture of Heming to her Instagram with a heartfelt caption.
She wrote, "I #SeeHer as family who I am honored to call a friend. Our children are sisters and yet there is no name for what our family connection is to one another. We are mothers united, sisters bonded on this crazy adventure of life." Moore also called her "an absolutely gorgeous woman" and "absolutely inspiring."
Today, Moore and Willis are still great friends and have proven that it's possible to remain on good terms with your ex. Moore even surprised the action star at the "Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis," making fun of his bald head and career path, but ultimately praising his fathering skills. Moore and Willis have successfully blended their families together, proving that while they weren't inspiring as lovers, they are inspiring as parents.
