It's hard to believe that The Boss himself is now 70 years young. Bruce Springsteen was born on this day in 1949 in the great state of New Jersey. Celebrate with a look back for his milestone birthday.

Bruce Springsteen is one of the world’s most influential rock stars who is very deserving of his 20 Grammys, Tony Award, Oscar, and 2 Golden Globes. He has been a headlining musician for decades and even has a Broadway show under his belt. He has hit icon status with a Presidential Medal of Freedom and a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame writes CNN.

The accomplished musician and his E Street Band are known for their versatility and expert songwriting. The variety of soulful and soaring songs in their repertoire range from the introspective “Streets of Philadelphia” to the anthemic “Born in the U.S.A.” and “Thunder Road.” Many of their songs are considered to be imperative to the history of rock music.

Springsteen has been the voice of the underdog, an honor which he wears on his sleeve. His regular outfits of jeans, boots, and ripped t-shirts are the uniforms of the everyman which he rocks in the official music video for his hit “Born To Run.” He intros the video with “Nobody wins unless everybody wins.”
