Brother With Autism's Best Man Speech Brings Wedding Attendees To Tears

At weddings, it’s common for the best man and the maid of honor to give speeches about how happy they are for the newly married couple. These speeches are sometimes full of inside jokes, while others are full of emotional details that bring wedding guests to tears. When one groom asked his brother to be his best man, he could have never guessed how heartfelt the speech he delivered would be.

Jonah Waldron, 27, married his partner Madison Waldron, 25, in Iowa in July 2021. Sam had asked his younger brother named Sam to be his best man. Sam was diagnosed with autism when he was seven years old and had difficulties in social settings. Fortunately, Jonah went to the same school as him and was always by his side. He still gets scared interacting with others.

On his brother’s wedding day, Sam faced his fears and delivered an emotional speech in front of 170 wedding guests. The 23-year-old was slightly shaking and moved side to side as he spoke vulnerably in front of everyone. He talked about how grateful he was to have a brother like Jonah and that he was happy to welcome Madison into the family. 

Along with all of the jokes and happiness that lingered in the speech also came an abundance of earnest words about Sam’s relationship with his brother and sister-in-law. The 23-year-old’s speech brought everyone to tears, especially the groom. A video of the speech has since been uploaded online and shared with people from all over the world, tugging at the heartstrings of many.

Sam’s best man speech for his brother left wedding guests and millions of online viewers in tears. The Daily Mail uploaded a video of the speech in September 2021, which has since received plenty of heartfelt comments, almost as emotional as Sam’s speech. 

Starting off his speech, Sam called his older brother his “hero” and expressed how grateful he was that Jonah reminded him that being different was a strength, not a weakness. Continuing with his speech, he told his brother, “You never looked down on me.”

He made sure to include Madison, too, and expressed how happy he was to welcome her into the family and jokingly told her that she married the “second most handsome Waldron.” According to the Daily Mail, Sam and Madison instantly became best friends the moment Jonah introduced them.

The rest of the speech was filled with more laughs and tears as Sam spoke highly and honestly about Jonah and Madison. Looking back on his brother’s speech, Jonah said, “Once he began to speak, I couldn’t hold in the tears of happiness.” When it comes to his relationship with Jonah, Sam said, “My relationship with Jonah is simply amazing, we hang out together and have fun.”

The speech has gone on to be seen by millions of people around the world, bringing tears to the eyes of many. Sam was happily surprised and said, “I felt like I inspired a lot of people so it was good.” Jonah referred to the speech as something he and his wife will always have for the rest of their lives.
