Trelysia Hamerter, Skylar’s mother, felt even more intense sadness over this situation because she couldn’t do much to help her daughter. The dance wouldn’t admit a mother instead of her father. This single mother didn’t have a man she could call to stand in for dad, or so she thought.

Christian, Skylar’s 11-year-old brother, was angered and spurred to action by this dire situation. He immediately decided that he was the man who would take his sister to the dance. According to mom, Christian said he wanted his sister to know she “… deserves a man keeping his word and making her feel special.”

Skylar couldn’t have been happier as she donned her gold dress and matching purse. Christian, clothed in a navy suit with coordinating gold bow tie, beamed with joy as he looked forward to becoming his sister’s hero. Mom was perhaps the proudest of all, gushing on social media

"Just know that I’m raising someone a GREAT HUSBAND one day.”
