Brooke Shields’ Love For Her Daughters Pours Through Gorgeous Photos Over The Years

Brooke Shields is famous for being one of Hollywood's most beautiful women. From the late 1970s, when she rose to popularity while still a teenager, to her sitcom-starring roles in television in the 1990s, Shields has remained absolutely gorgeous every step of the way.

Still acting, albeit less frequently, Shields settled down and started a family with her husband, Chris Henchy, in 2001, and together the couple has two daughters. Over the years, Shields has shared many precious moments with her girls, and the world has been lucky enough to watch them grow up right in front of our eyes.

One moment that stood out in particular for Shields and her family was when her daughter Rowan made a heartwarming choice for her prom dress. When it came time for her prom, she must have thought, considering her mom is Shields, then she was surely entitled to raid her wardrobe. After all, there must be some designer gowns just waiting to be brought out again. 

Rowan was in luck. Shields had kept an absolutely stunning gown that she wore to the Golden Globes in 1998 when she was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for "Suddenly Susan." Although she didn't take home the award that night, Shields looked like royalty in her red satin dress.

Of course, Shields made sure to commemorate the occasion by posting it online. However, this wasn’t the only time Shields shared a heartwarming photograph of her kids. The actress has continued to rave about her girls, sharing how they are growing into beautiful young women.

It's not uncommon for celebrity parents to allow their children to follow in their footsteps from an early age, but Shields is obviously more interested in her daughters having a regular upbringing before they potentially pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Speaking with Social Life in 2018, Shields said:

“Well, my older one loves musical theater and really enjoys doing school plays. And then my younger one has people coming up to her encouraging her left and right. But, listen, it’s a cutthroat and demoralizing business. Plus, they want you when they want you, and you have to be there for auditions and work, and my kids aren’t missing school. After college, if they still have the bug, they can pursue it then, but school is first.”

“Being with my children is one of the purest joys that I have,” Shields shared. She has watched Rowan and Grier grow up right in front of her eyes, from precious tots eager to learn to teenagers ready to take on the world.

Despite their young ages, Shields has continued to be amazed by Grier and Rowan. In 2018, she spoke with Porter about how mature her girls – then aged 12 and 15 – already were:

“They’re so much more mature than I was. So much more confident in their own bodies. They have the same stubbornness and strength that I do, but are more well-adjusted. I am jealous as all hell about that. But, of course, I created it.”

In 2019, Shields spoke with PEOPLE about how blown away she was by how Rowan and Grier were not only aware of themselves and their beauty but how much they appreciated the bodies that kept them moving.

“Their bodies are so important to them,” she said. “Whatever you say is heard, so you have to really be careful how you say whatever it is you’re saying to girls in particular.” 

The actress added, “I really have to be like, ‘How would this sound if it was said to me at 13?’ I celebrate the differences in their bodies.”

Seeing her daughters all grown up, it’s safe to say that Shields feels remarkably accomplished as a mother. She spoke about her relationship with her own mother with PEOPLE in 2022 and how it compared to the one she has with her daughters, now aged 16 and 19.

"I'm thankful that (my mom) really supported me in college when I was homesick and said, 'You're not a quitter, don't give up, you'll never forgive yourself.' But I watched her slowly not know who she was without me," Shields said. "I want my daughters to know that I am fully me, I am not their responsibility."

It’s evident that Rowan and Grier are growing up to be just as beautiful and kind-hearted as Shields. And in September 2022, the mom shared a heartwarming photo of herself and her daughters on Instagram with the caption:

“My pride and joy. My whole heart. My girls. Happy #nationaldaughtersday 💗”
