Britney Spears Praises Justin Timberlake Nearly 20 Years After Split

It has been almost 20 years since the breakup between Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake made front page news. Songs were written about it, and drama ensued, but it looks like there are no hard feelings between the pair. Spears recently posted an Instagram video of her dancing to Timberland's song "Filthy," speaking highly about the track, and Timberland responded in kind.

In the late 1990s, Timberlake, 39, and Spears, 38, were one of the coolest couples around. They made headlines everywhere they went, and the childhood sweethearts had a huge fan base. They first met on the well-known TV show "The Mickey Mouse Club," but it was seven years before their friendship developed into a romance, reports New Idea. When news of their breakup spread, their fans were devastated.

In an unexpected post, Spears shared a video of herself dancing to Timberlake's 2018 song "Filthy," which was part of his fifth studio album, "Man of the Woods," reports India Today.

Spears referenced her breakup with Timberlake, then went on to praise his talent, calling him a "genius."

She wrote, "This is my version of Snapchat or TikTok or whatever the cool thing you're supposed to do these days!!!!! As you can see I’m not really dancing folks …… I’m just very bored. PS I know we had one of the world's biggest breakups 20 years ago …… but hey the man is a genius !!!! Great song JT !!!! Pssss if you KNOW WHAT'S GOOD !!!!!!"

No one knew if Timberlake would respond, but he did! He posted a comment that had the crying-laughing emoji and three raised hands. The reply certainly excited a lot of their social media followers. There have been calls for Spears and Timberlake to collaborate together in the past, and this may reawaken those calls.

In 2017, Lance Bass spoke about the possibility of a Timberlake-Spears reunion for a music collaboration. In an interview with ET, he confirmed they have put the past behind them. He said, "I would love to see it happen, and I don't think it's not going to happen... They're good. They're friends." We will have to watch this space! Either way, it's nice to see their history not interfering with their appreciation of each other's talents.
