Britney Spears Dances Seemingly Unfazed In Bikini Despite Her Messy Divorce With Husband Sam Asghari

After 13 years of living under a restrictive conservatorship that controlled her life and fortune, Britney Spears finally became free in 2021. The pop star is known for such hits as "Stronger," "Oops!...I Did It Again" and "Toxic." She now has control over her own finances and career.

The #FreeBritney movement has been circulating for years on various social media platforms, with fans urging anyone close to the pop star to help her with the legal issues surrounding her personal life and career.

The movement reached a new wave of supporters after the 2021 documentary "Framing Britney Spears" was released. The film depicted how much Spears has been struggling to get legal control over her own life, as her father was her conservator, meaning that he had legal control over the majority of her assets and life decisions, including having another child.

As the #FreeBritney movement gained mainstream popularity in 2021, Spears saw an outpouring of support from stars like Dolly Parton and Lance Bass of NSYNC — not to mention her fans online. However, as she experienced liberation again after more than a decade, her fans have been worried about her because of her rather unusual behavior on social media – especially her numerous dance videos wearing only her underwear, and sometimes, almost nude.

While everyone wanted Spears to finally experience normalcy in her life, she experienced yet another obstacle in her life. In August 2023, her husband of a year, Sam Asghari, filed for divorce, which prompted a whirlwind of heightened media attention again to her.

However, Spears doesn’t seem bothered at all by the recent life changes that are happening to her as she dances it out again, unfazed by all the allegations that Asghari has thrown at her in the media.

During a 24-minute-long testimony that she gave in front of a probate judge at the end of June 2021, Spears accused her conservators of forcing her to perform against her will, making her take mood-stabilizing drugs and keeping her on birth control despite her wishes to have another baby.

On Nov. 12, 2021, a judge announced the final verdict in Spears's case. "As of today, the conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Jean Spears is hereby terminated," Judge Brenda Penny said, according to the Associated Press.

Ever since she was freed from conservatorship and had gotten full control of her Instagram account, Spears had been very expressive of her thoughts and her feelings, may it be through words or through dancing and performing.

A quick scroll on Spears’ Instagram account would expose one to almost a hundred videos of her dancing joyously, unfazed by all the criticism and concerns that people have thrown at her. Perhaps the biggest concern that anyone may have is her mental well-being, with people worrying if her traumatic experience while being placed in a conservatorship had greatly affected her.

Spears has since clarified that she is “totally fine,” and explained more about her “bizarre” dance videos:

"Yes, I'm totally fine,. I'm extremely happy, I have a beautiful home, beautiful children. I'm taking a break right now because I'm enjoying myself.”

Despite the clarifications and explanations, many fans of Spears still could not help but worry about her well-being as they continued to spot more indications that she might be suffering from a condition.

The Daily Mail spoke to Caroline Strawson, a trauma-informed therapist and coach, about Spears’ dancing on social media, which she says was a response to the trauma she had before.

“She learnt from a very early age that her sense of worth was wrapped up in singing, dancing and earning money. This is why many celebrities go on to have these very public trauma responses because it’s their nervous system driven to protect them from pain,” she revealed.

As for Clinical Psychologist Dr. Tony Ortega, he said it might be difficult for Spears to overcome the trauma.

“Britney Spears is a global phenomenon but not just for her unforgettable music lyrics but also for her battles with mental health and the subsequent conservatorship drama. You wouldn't want this kind of fame, mental illness and family division for your worst enemy; it would likely have long-term negative ramifications for anyone,” he told the outlet

Despite all the worry that her fans have expressed on social media, Spears repeatedly assured them that she’s doing good. However, many began to be concerned again when news of Spears and Asghari’s split and eventual divorce broke out on social media.

On Aug. 16, 2023, TMZ was the first to report that Spears and Asghari, after a year of marriage, were splitting, and Entertainment Tonight first reported that they were heading for divorce. People Magazine obtained court documents that reveal that the couple has been separated since July 28, 2023.

The filing cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce, as Asghari was requesting spousal support from Spears as he also demanded that she should pay the legal fees to settle the divorce.

An insider revealed that “their marriage has been on the rocks for months" and that there has been “constant drama.”

Spears has since addressed the divorce on Instagram. She penned a lengthy statement as a caption on one of her videos.

According to Spears, she didn’t speak up to “explain” what happened “because it’s honestly nobody’s business” but because she “couldn’t take the pain anymore.”

“In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!! I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that !!! I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses !!!” she assured everyone.

Interestingly, she attributed her strength to her estranged father Jamie Spears whom she called a “strong soldier.” Spears claimed that if it weren’t for him, she would be “sent away to places to get fixed by doctors.”

“You’re supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions !!!! So I will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty damn good !!!” she continued.

On the other hand, Asghari shared his own statement on Instagram, BBC reported.

"After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S**t happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful,” he said.

Spears is unfazed as she proceeded to post on her Instagram more dance videos, including a string of videos wearing only white boots, a leopard print unitard bikini, and a brown brassiere.
