Grace Jones, nicknamed 'Amazing Grace' died peacefully in her sleep on Friday at age 112 according to The Telegraph. Born in 1906, Grace was Britain's oldest person.

Grace's daughter, Deidre McCarthy, 81, told the BBC, "I never dreamt when I was a little girl that my mother would be the talking point of the whole country." Grace was invited on TV shows like ITV News and Strictly Come Dancing for her impressive age.  Deidre continued saying, "I used to say to my friends: ‘She is a piece of history gift-wrapped.’ She was wonderful and had a lovely sense of humor.” Grace lived through two world wars, five different monarchs, and 26 prime ministers.

When speaking to the SWNS (South West News Service) in a video interview, Grace had attributed her long life to drinking whiskey daily.

“Whisky is very good for you. I started having a nightly tot of it when I turned 50, so I’ve been having it every night for the last 60 years, and I certainly have no intention of stopping now. My doctor said 'keep up with the whiskey Grace, it's good for your heart.'" - Grace Jones

Deidre McCarthy said her mother took all the media attention she received for being Britain's oldest person in stride, "Mother sat there looking so serene and gorgeous, really dressed up beautifully and each person came in, all the boys with their cameras and lighting and she thought that was great." McCarthy added, "She conducted herself so nicely and answered everything, and then on the last one for Channel 5 she suddenly said 'I'm hungry; when is teatime?'." The Telegraph reports that the next person who has assumed 'Britain's Oldest Person' title is 111-year-old Hilda Clulow who was born in 1908.
