Susan Boyle, the woman with one of the most unexpected auditions on Britain's Got Talent 2009 turns 59 years old today. Let’s celebrate her special day with a throwback to her very first audition that turned her into a global phenomenon 11 years ago.

When Susan Boyle stepped onto the stage to audition for the casting show "Britain's Got Talent" in 2009, murmurs and whispers could be heard among the audience, as people were judging Susan for her appearance not expecting her to perform well.

But they quickly fell silent when the Scottish singer started singing her song "I Dreamed A Dream" as they were stunned to hear her incredible voice. Everyone got out of their seats - including judge Simon Cowell who was just as astonished as the rest of the audience.

Even though Susan only turned out to be the show’s runner-up, she is been having an amazing career ever since. She released her first album called “I Dreamed a Dream” about half a year after her Britain’s Got Talent appearance. The record featured Susan singing multiple cover versions of famous songs and sold over 410,000 copies within the first week, according to BBC.

Since then the singer released seven more albums including a Christmas record called “The Gift.” In 2019 she came out with her newest album “Ten” which features 13 re-released songs as well as four new recordings such as "A Million Dreams" or "500 Miles."

In addition to her successful career, the singer has gained a lot of confidence over the years and seems to feel way more comfortable in her skin. Her personal growth really became apparent as she performed at the SEC Armadillo auditorium in Glasgow exactly 11 years after her very first audition.

The singer didn’t just wear any outfit for that special occasion and showed wearing the same golden dress she had been wearing during her audition in 2009. Even though she is dressed in the same outfit, Susan just gives off a totally different impression. Nowadays there surely wouldn’t be anyone laughing at her, as she simply is a showstopper!
