While participants are allowed to donate to any charity they want, Bring Your Dog to Work Day was originally intended to help two charities: All Dogs Matter and Animals Asia.

All Dogs Matter is a London-based organization that helps rehome and rehabilitate animals in both the United Kingdom and those from foreign nations. Animals Asia has been working with steadfast determination since 1998 to end the cat and dog food trade in China and Vietnam as well as stop bear bile traders.

In addition to helping the animals, taking your dog to work can also be beneficial to humans. Multiple studies have found that the presence of animals at an office or other place of business leads to substantially higher worker satisfaction.

These studies conclude that having animals in the workplace can lead to greater employee morale, better team spirit, and lower stress levels.

Those workers who have participated in Bring Your Dog to Work Day in the past have praised the yearly event. Not only does it help establish a greater bond between dogs and owners, it also shows another side of people to their co-workers. In addition to learning more about their co-workers’ home lives, those workers who do not currently have pets can see what amazing companions they are for their human owners.

This, hence, leads to more people being open to adopting dogs and cats from animal shelters, saving the lives of countless animals while also improving the lives of humans.
