Brie Larson recently won an MTV Movie Award for Best Fight in her role as the butt-kicking superhero Captain Marvel in the movie of the same name. She trained hard for the role but didn’t attribute only her own hard work in creating the role itself.

That’s why when she came to the stage to accept her little golden popcorn statuette award, two women came up with her. The audience must have been confused about why three blondes of the same height were accepting one award.

Quickly they found out that the two women flanking Brie were her stunt doubles, and she wanted them to be acknowledged for their hard work in creating Captain Marvel as well.

“I wanted to take this moment to really say thank you to two women who are standing here beside me,” Larson gushed, “These are the women that trained me and were also the stunt doubles for Captain Marvel. I could not have made this film without them. They are really the baseline for who she is. They are the living embodiment of Captain Marvel.”

Larson went on to introduce the two women—Renae Moneymaker and Joanna Bennett—who also made speeches in thanks. They revealed that they grew up together and idolized strong, powerful, action women in movies.

“As young girls, we wanted to be just like Lara Croft and GI Jane,” Renae said, “It's a real honor to be a part of this character and hopefully pass some of that inspiration and strength that those iconic women brought to us.

The women are now a proud part of that dynasty of female superheroes and action stars that they looked up to as kids. It’s wonderful for them to be able to stand there and be acknowledged for their hard, collaborative work in creating a character and story for young girls everywhere to look up to.
