Bridezilla Criticized For Her Specific Dress Code Based On Guests’ Body Weight & Monetary Demands

May 31, 2022 by apost team

It’s no secret that some brides push their wedding planning expectations and execution a bit too much. While they have every right to want to make their wedding as perfect as possible, some of their requests might be too demanding or even impossible.

For one bride who was getting married in Hawaii in 2019, she wanted all of her guests to adhere to a dress code. This is pretty common for weddings, as most actually have a theme that require a dress code, but this bride’s demand was a bit over-the-top. She wanted her guests to choose their outfits based on how much they weighed.

The bride broke the dress code down into two categories for each gender. Women under 160 pounds were advised to wear certain clothes, while women above this weight were told to wear something different. The same went for the male guests, except that their weight groups were 100 to 200 pounds for one code and more than 200 pounds for the other. As if that wasn’t enough,  the bride also wanted all of her guests to spend at least $1,000 on their outfits.

"Additionally, we will require that you wear formal attire after the dancing has ended ... We want you to invest in an outfit valued at at least $1,000," the screenshot reads.

The screenshot of the bride’s post was uploaded to the r/ChoosingBeggars forum on Reddit in December 2018, and Redditors were not happy. They immediately began slamming the bride for her demeaning demands and her bridezilla behavior. Since then, the bride has taken yet another step to upset her wedding guests. Read on to find out more about this bride and her high wedding day expectations.

The Unique Dress Code

According to the Reddit post, this bride had a lot of requests and expectations of her wedding party and guests, specifically regarding what they would wear for her 2019 Hawaiian wedding. “I am giving you a long notice of a year and a half so that you will have time to find and pick out something nice,” she said. “The dress code is very specific because it will be used to create an incredible visual effect. If done right, it will make our synchronized dancing along the beach really pop.”

Women weighing 100 to 160 pounds were instructed to wear a green velvet sweater, orange suede pants, a Burberry scarf and Louboutin heels. Women wearing more than 160 pounds were told to wear all black.

Men weighing 100 to 200 pounds were given a dress code that consisted of a purple fuzzy jacket, soda hat, white shoes and glow sticks. Men that weighed more than 200 pounds were told to wear all camouflage clothing along with black sneakers. The children were required to wear all red clothing.

On top of that, the bride expected her guests to bring a change of clothes for after they performed their dance routine, valued at a price of $1,000 or more. “You have a year and a half to get working,” the bride said. “No excuses!”

Reddit users were shocked at the bride’s incredulous demands and called her out for them. One user said, “That sounds hideous… and she sounds hideous lol.” Another user made a mock-up of the dress code, joking about how horrible the outfits seemed.

The Bride Responds

A third user said, “So, I’ve never been, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say the idea of having to wear sweaters/suede/pants/velvet/hats/jackets no matter what time of year you’re in Hawaii is going to be a disgusting sweaty mess. Especially if I’m expected to ‘dance.’” Another user said, “I could not picture that color scheme (PLUS CAMOUFLAGE!) being anything but a sin against humanity.”

Another user commented, “I get this feeling this might be one of those weddings where everyone cancels when she tries to double check a month or so before the wedding, and then we’ll get the over the top drama post about how all of her friends are a bunch of backstabbers. Can’t wait.”

It turned out that the latter Redditor’s prediction came true. According to Bored Panda, the bride found out about the Reddit post and retaliated by making her wedding guests take a polygraph test to find out who went behind her back. She held a “polygraph party” with a $99 polygraph test kit she bought and said she would give $100 to anyone who had any information about who uploaded her post.

The bride was also furious with Redditors for their response to her dress code. She said, “Our wedding colors, fabrics and intimate synchronized dance are something we hold very dear to our hearts. The expensive clothing represents the riches we wish to come. The black and camouflage outfits represent the aura of the devil that we must shoo away."

It's probably fair to say that this woman is one massive bridezilla.
