Bride Wears Tactile Dress Allowing Blind Husband To 'Feel' How She Looks On Wedding Day

Weddings are usually one of the most special days of someone's life. It's an honor to be able to celebrate one's love in front of their nearest and dearest. For couple Anthony and Kelly Anne Ferraro, their wedding proved to be extra special.

Anthony is a musician and motivational speaker, but he's also a blind Paralympic athlete in training. To make their wedding even more special for Anthony, Kelly Anne decided to wear a tactile dress so that her husband-to-be could feel how she looked. Posting to his Instagram on Oct. 14, Anthony shared footage of the couple's big day and wrote, "She even wore a tactile wedding dress so I could feel how beautiful she was."

The incredibly sweet gesture even has its roots in the couple's first date, which took place after they met in 2017 on the Jersey Shore. For the couple's first date, Kelly Anne wore a velvet dress, which Anthony later wrote about in a moving Instagram post.

He said:

"Someone who put herself in my shoes and went as far as wearing a velvet dress to our first date so I could feel her beauty."

Ever since getting together, the couple has opened up each other's worlds. They began traveling together, which helped Anthony experience the world in ways he had never imagined. He wrote in the same Instagram post:

"At this point my life instantly changed, I was no longer blind, I could see for the first time. Kelly Anne became my eyes while we experience the world in a whole new way. We took the extra time to stop and enjoy different objects, scenery, and landscapes while she described to me in perfect picture detail and then we would experience it with our other senses."

Clearly very connected, it must have been the most wonderful surprise when Kelly Anne decided to do something special for her love on their wedding day. Partnering up with sustainable bridal boutique Loulette Bridal from Brooklyn, New York, Kelly Anne wanted to create a tactile wedding gown so that Anthony could feel how beautiful she looked. Adorned in lace flowers, velvet and silk, the gown felt as beautiful as it looked.

What's more, she wanted it to be a surprise for the big day. Anthony later told Insider

"I wasn't allowed to know anything about it. I even went with her to pick it up in Brooklyn, but I wasn't allowed to go in with her. I had to wait in the car."

Anthony added:

"It just fit her like a glove."

But Kelly Anne wasn't done yet — she had a second surprise for her husband. In honor of the velvet dress she wore on their first date, she had a custom white velvet jacket made, complete with fringe detailing. The groom couldn't stop playing with the fringe detailing all night, as he told Insider

"It was the most amazing feeling, rubbing it back and forth, and rubbing her back with the velvet. It's so nostalgic and so beautiful. Those textures made me able to visualize Kelly perfectly in my head."

The couple even incorporated other tactile elements for the wedding and ceremony, including wrapping the tent poles in bubble wrap after Anthony accidentally hit his head so hard he nearly knocked himself unconscious — twice! They then added burlap and flowers around the bubble wrap to make it look pretty.
