Bride Uses Online Shopping To Have Dream Wedding For Only $3,000

There are so many things on a checklist when planning a wedding. Items on the checklist may include dresses, suits, food, decorations, a finalized guest list, securing a venue, and staying within budget. Staying within budget is exactly what Ashley and Tre Hicks did.
The couple married in North Carolina with their dream wedding, but it only cost them $3,000. Their guest list had 150 people, and this $3,000 price tag included food, decor, and the garments. For those who understand how expensive weddings can be, this is a low cost for a wedding of that size.
Their proposal was in February 2019, and the couple desired a June wedding that would not put them into debt. With Tre’s background being in finance, budgeting their wedding was a top priority.
Because of this, they had their wedding ceremony and reception at the church Ashley grew up in. She said it allowed her to have the ceremony in an inexpensive space and came with necessities like tables or chairs. She advises other couples to utilize all of their resources to find a wedding venue without paying thousands of dollars for a one-day event.
According to Business Insider, couples often go into debt just to have their perfect wedding. When it comes to paying for weddings, 28% of American couples reported going into debt with credit cards or loans.
The Knot and WeddingWire published a global report which detailed how weddings differ from country to country, trends with couples, and how parents are involved in weddings or statistics on honeymoons.
When it comes to the United States, the average cost of a wedding in 2020 was $19,000.

The Hicks hired a wedding planner to advise, and the planner recommended Amazon as the source to purchase items quickly.
The couple was able to purchase the wedding dress, the bride’s shoes, the bridesmaids’ dresses, shoes, and accessories. They were able to purchase gifts for the groomsmen, table settings, plates, and more.
While most brides may be wary of purchasing a wedding dress from the internet, Ashley had a strategy in place.
She tried on dresses at wedding shops to find a dress style and size. This allowed her to learn her measurements to assist with purchasing a wedding dress online.
Because the goal was to have a lace mermaid wedding dress for her big day, Ashley chose a Chinese retailer online that specializes in custom-made dresses based on one’s measurements.
One concern of custom-made dresses is that they are not eligible for returns. According to Ashley’s YouTube, a $1,000 wedding dress was not in sight for her. This custom dress from China cost her just $100.
The dress arrived within two weeks, and according to her, it fit perfectly.
While this was a great feat, the couple also had assistance from friends and family for the vendor aspects of the wedding. Instead of gifts, their friends rendered certain services for them.
For $275, they purchased two cakes, cupcakes, donuts, and banana pudding shooters.

In an interview with ABC11, Ashley said:
“You don’t have to spend all of your money on weddings, you don’t have to go into debt for a wedding.”
