Bride Tries to Ban Fiancé's 3-year-old Daughter From Attending Their Wedding, Says She Is Marrying Him And Not His Child

May 12, 2021 by apost team

Weddings are never easy, but they are especially difficult when the bride becomes extremely uncompromising. The term “Bridezilla” was created to refer to brides whose attitudes are extreme and intolerably demanding. There has even been a reality show made called “Bridezillas” that is all about obsessive brides behaving badly.

One such bride made a post on Facebook asking for advice on how to tell her fiance that she doesn’t want his 3-year-old to be at their wedding. She defends this position by saying that she designated “no kids” on the invitations and that the rule should also apply to the groom’s family.

The woman is unnamed and the post was shared at some time in 2020. There is not much known about the situation except this bride-to-be does not want her future stepchild to be anywhere near the wedding. Her post sounded extremely harsh, calling the groom’s daughter a number of derogatory names and refers to the child as a mistake.

The post was shared to a Facebook group called “wedding shaming” and garnered over 1,000 comments from users who were shocked by the woman’s blunt and harsh statement. The vast amount of users did not think the woman was in the right and stopped to say so in their comments. After the post was shared on Reddit the same backlash occurred.

It seems no one had any advice for how the woman could keep the little girl from the wedding and she had no further comments to make about the situation. Read on to hear more reactions to the controversial post.

According to the NZ Herald, the original post on Facebook read:

"How do I tell my fiance I don't want his daughter at our wedding? I put 'no kids' on the invites so I thought he'd get the point, but he keeps mentioning her being there?" She seems truly oblivious to the error in her ways.

She later added, "Edit cause people keep asking me the same dumb questions, she's three. I am marrying him, not his crotch goblin. That's his mistake not mine.” It is certainly shocking that the woman doesn't understand that many would have a problem with her referring to her future stepdaughter by such derogatory names.

She elaborated adding, "I don't want her there because she's needy and makes everything about her AND I said no kids! If you don't have (anything) nice to say or any advice then SCROLL ON!" This woman must not spend much time around kids if she’s surprised that a 3-year-old would be a little self-centered.

One person commented under the post, "Lady when you marry a man, you marry his family. The fact that you refer to his daughter as a 'crotch goblin' is a major red flag and he needs to dump you.” Many other commentators agreed that this relationship would not last with such a mean attitude by the soon-to-be stepmother.

Other users were questioning why the woman wanted to marry a man with a daughter anyway. "Why marry someone with kids if you don't like kids? There are plenty of single, childless people out there. We don't all have children," one commenter pointed out.

The woman’s statement was reposted on Reddit where 3.4 thousand people reacted to it. User Kittyplayzz2 pointed out that the whole message was a red flag and the groom should be warned. Another commenter, Chaosmusic, responded, “This moved beyond flags. This is a big, red baseball bat pummeling the groom in the head and he still isn't getting the hint.”

Other people were worried about the type of environment the little girl would be growing up in with this kind of step-parent. “She isn't just becoming his wife only. She will be the stepmother of that 3 year old. Also if she has problems with the 3 year old then I have to question her choice of marrying him. She no doubt knows that she will have to be a mother to that 3 year old,” said user SolarDragon4114.

Another user, who deleted their account, mentioned that the woman should have been the one to break off the engagement. “There is a really good reason no one has anything nice to say because you are a terrible human being. Also, if him having a child was going to be that much a problem why still be in the relationship? He's still going to raise and love his daughter so either you grow up and be a stepmother as that's what comes with the marriage or break it off if you can't commit,” they said.

Most people showed no sympathy for the woman who posted this message, and there have been no further updates from her. Reddit user Steenhouwer left this joke to lighten the mood under the post, saying, "These men! They never even read the invites to their own wedding."
