At one time or another, we all made the mistake of sending a letter to the wrong address. Usually, nothing comes about from the mishap. The letter either gets a return to sender or disappears under mysterious circumstances. When a wedding invitation went to the wrong address, however, the bride received a surprising response. She ended up with $20, a wedding gift from an unknown stranger.

Oregon's Cassie Warren had a lot on her mind when planning out a wedding to her beloved, Jesse. The wedding wasn't going to be a small one, either. Invites had to go out to 200 guests. Signing and mailing out all those invitations takes time, and Cassie didn't have as much time as she wanted. A few of those invitations were rushed out into the mail. In her haste, Cassie didn't realize she sent a wedding invitation to her aunt and uncle's previous address. She discovered the mistake in the most unusual way.

A few days after she sent out the invite, a letter arrived. Inside the letter was the misdirected invitation. The gesture was a nice one. Had the person not sent the letter, Cassie would never know her aunt and uncle didn't receive an invite. There's more to the story, though according to Inside Edition.

Scrawled on the outside of the envelope were the words, "Live long and prosper." Star Trek fans remember that Mr. Spock, the emotionless Vulcan, would often make this comment. In the invite, Jesse wore a Star Wars shirt. While Star Wars and Star Trek are two different entities, they both fall under the sci-fi banner. The stranger likely felt a connection to fellow fantasy fans.

The stranger had another surprise for the couple. He or she sent $20 in the envelope! The stranger also left a note saying "Congratulations" and to "have dinner" with the $20. Cassie and Jesse took a soon-to-be-deployed friend out to dinner and sent a thank-you note to the stranger at the old address.

Sometimes, the news is filled with too much bad news. Heartwarming and humorous tales like this one remind everyone about the kind people in the world and the good they bring. Let everyone know about the sci-fi stranger and his out-of-this-world wedding gift.
