Bride Mortified After Groom Uses Phone To Watch Rugby At Their Wedding

A wedding is a special day for two people in love to come together and celebrate their love in front of their closest friends and family. So much time, money and planning goes into making the big day as perfect as possible, understandably so, so it makes sense why couples hope that the day runs smoothly. It’s a day full of excitement, happiness and surprises. For one bride in Australia, she was met with a huge surprise on her wedding day, but it wasn’t one she had been hoping for.

A couple by the names of Dani and Blake tied the knot on Aug. 20, 2021. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous, like it had just come out of a fairytale. Dani was a beautiful bride in her stunning white dress, while her new husband looked incredibly handsome decked out in a tux. However, Blake’s focus shifted from his new wife to his phone during the wedding’s reception.

Blake had meticulously placed his phone against their wedding cake stand so he would have the perfect view of it and could watch a rugby game. That’s right -- Blake decided to watch rugby during his own wedding. Dani looked absolutely mortified at her husband’s actions, while he simply brushed it off.

A year after the couple tied the knot, they uploaded a TikTok showing the horrific moment of Blake getting caught watching the rugby game at his wedding reception, and the video has taken off. Dani’s reaction to her new husband’s actions on their wedding day was priceless, as she couldn’t believe he had the nerve to watch a sports game on their wedding day.

Dani and Blake got married on Aug. 20, 2020. Their wedding was stunning, but their wedding dinner was full of surprises. According to the Mirror, Blake had decided to spend the night watching a rugby game despite being at his own wedding. He propped his phone up against the wedding cake stand so he could have the perfect and sneakiest view from his spot opposite the top table. He enjoyed getting to watch an NRL game between the Penrith Panthers and Cronulla Sharks, as per the Mirror.

To celebrate their first wedding anniversary, Dani shared a clip of the unforgettable moment to the Australian couple’s TikTok account, showing her reaction to her husband’s choice of actions. “I still can’t believe my husband did this at our wedding,” she said in the video. The camera panned from Blake’s phone screening the game to Dani sitting at their table looking absolutely gorgeous yet completely unamused by the entire situation. After getting caught by whoever was filming them, Blake simply shrugged, as if to say, “The footy’s on.”

Thankfully the couple has been able to laugh about the situation since, and their TikTok depicting this moment has since gone viral. It has been viewed more than 7.9 million times and received over 400,000 likes. According to the Mirror, many commenters called Blake a “legend” for finding a way to watch the rugby game at his own wedding. We can’t help but wonder if Blake will pull a similar stunt at the next big family event!
