Bride Got Married Barefoot And Spent Only $100 On Her Outdoor Wedding – Including $20 Wedding Dress

While there are a lot of women who dream of having the most lavish wedding ceremonies, there are also those who wish to have a simple and intimate wedding. Of course, every woman dreams of having the perfect wedding. But having the perfect wedding doesn’t necessarily mean spending thousands of dollars. Of course, it’s still the prerogative of the couple whether or not they would spend a lot of money on their wedding. As they say, to each his/her own. At the end of the day, what’s important is that they are happy with their decision.

One woman, for example, had one of the simplest but most magical weddings any woman could ever wish for – and she was the happiest person that day.

In January 2023, Elle Pothier Simon decided to share photos from her wedding with Carson Simon on TikTok – and it instantly went viral.

Having met each other in 2018 when Elle and Carson were just 20 and 22 years old, respectively, they went on to date for a year and a half. Soon after, Carson popped the question to Elle in the most romantic setup by proposing to her on a rooftop with lights all over, overlooking the ocean.

Elle didn’t have a hard time falling for Simon whom she knew was the one the moment she felt at ease with herself. Having Carson by her side simply made her feel calm and confident.

They initially wanted to have a big wedding where it all started – Hawaii – since they originally planned on bringing their families from different states in the US. But the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to go back to their respective homes, Elle in Phoenix, Arizona and Carson in Salt Lake City, Utah.

While their original plan didn’t push through, they still pulled off their dream wedding – only it was in Glen Canyon, Arizona. Since it was a halfway point for both of their families, it was, without a doubt, the perfect location for their wedding – on top of the fact the place has one of the most beautiful views.

On April 9, 2020, they officially got married. While they only had a total of 16 guests during the wedding due to COVID-19 restrictions, Elle said the intimate wedding was perfect.

“I think it's just important to spend time with the people that really love you and know you the best," Elle told Insider. "We really got to focus on them instead of trying to see a bunch of people and make sure that they were having fun or feeling good about the wedding,” she added.

But would you believe her wedding dress – a loose white dress with short, puffed sleeves and a scoop neckline – only cost her $20 from Target? Elle also didn’t wear shoes during the ceremony because she wanted to be true to herself, having been used to not wearing shoes while growing up and later while living in Hawaii.

Her bouquet, on the other hand, was a mix of flowers from Trader Joe’s and some from the roadside. But their wedding was made even more magical after Elle’s grandfather, Richard Eyre, got his license online and married the couple. If you ask about the food, well, they just brought some picnic food before the wedding and other food along the way.

For the wedding dress, gas for the car, disposable cameras and Elle's grandpa's wedding license, the couple only spent $100.

Several people were inspired by Elle’s post, as one woman said: “And that’s on wanting a marriage, not a wedding.”
