Bride Furious Freeloading Wedding Guest Left A $5 Gift And 'Loaded Up' 10 Containers Of Food

Newlyweds will remember their wedding day for the rest of their lives. It's a beautiful occasion for a couple to come together and profess their love in front of all of their friends and family members and to commemorate their life-long commitment to one another.

While weddings are beautiful and full of love, there is a lot of planning that goes into making them as perfect as possible. Picking out everything from the music that will play throughout the reception to the flower arrangements that will adorn the tables are just some of the many steps couples have to take into consideration.

A Reddit post uploaded by user @numanuma_ highlighted a frustrating moment that one bride endured during her wedding day. While it is no secret that weddings can be extremely expensive, this bride was extra upset at one of her guests taking advantage of the amount of food offered at the wedding.

Since she was following a Polish wedding tradition in Western Pennsylvania, she had a large array of food, including a cookie table, which is incredibly popular in that area and the bride's culture. Everything was served buffet style, meaning people could take what they pleased. However, one guest took this idea too far and decided to start packing up reusable containers with food from the buffet.

Although the post is from April 2019, it has begun making its way around the internet once again, sparking new online conversations. Not only were people stunned by the rude behavior of this originally uninvited wedding guest, but they also couldn't believe that she barely left the couple a gift.

In the Reddit post, the bride talked about her wedding ceremony and reception and everything that went into place to make it as beautiful and memorable as possible. "My husband and I had a very small wedding ceremony and reception, probably about 25 people were invited," she said. "Only close family and a handful of friends."

It's understandable why the couple would want to keep the wedding as intimate as possible, but they did make one exception. The bride mentioned that she invited her dad's best friend, who later asked if he could bring his daughter and her husband. The bride said that she didn't have a problem with this – that is until her wedding day arrived. The bride explained, "So she shows up, without her husband, but with about 10 Tupperware containers. TO TAKE FOOD."

A Polish tradition, especially in Pennsylvania, is to have a buffet and a cookie table. It's clear that this woman appreciated the food arrangement, as she decided to take home plenty of the food that was available. "She loaded up seven Tupperware containers with food to take home, took about three containers of homemade cookies, a couple of bottles of beer, and most the centerpieces," the bride explained.

She didn't notice this during the reception as she was so wrapped up in celebrating her wedding, but her father told her about it the following day. To top it off, the woman had barely left the bride and groom anything for their wedding present. "And when we opened up our 'gift' from her – she gave us $5," the bride stated. "Not even kidding."

The bride continued, "Before anyone asks, she's not poor by any stretch of the imagination. She's probably better off than I am, and I'm assuming it's because she just freeloads from anyone and everyone she can! But seriously! Who the f*** does this?"

Many Redditors flooded the comment section to express their disdain for the woman as they couldn't believe that she would do something so selfish on someone else's wedding day – especially someone that she barely knew. Surprisingly, many people shared their own similar stories about freeloaders at their special occasions.

One user commented:

"My uncle's wife did this at our wedding. We had late night mac n' cheese put out, and she came flying in with to-go containers. She was scooping out as much as she could… until my maid of honor caught on. Maid of honor stopped her, but what the hell? She left us maybe a quarter of the platter, knowing that the whole group of us was going to be having a fire later, and that were planning to bring the mac n' cheese with us."

Other users talked about how this type of behavior should never be acceptable and gave the bride some tips on what to do in the future. One user said, "Give the $5 back and if they ever have a party, clear the food as soon as you get there." Another person added, "Any guest who shows up at a function where food is being served (other than a potluck) with any kind of container/bag should be instantly asked/told/forced to leave. No exceptions."
