Bride Doesn’t Notice What’s Hiding In Her Wedding Flowers Until She Reaches The Altar

Every couple has a wedding detail that doesn’t quite go according to plan. For bride Alyssa Amoroso, it turned into one of the most memorable moments of the day — and millions of people online are now laughing right along with her.
While planning her destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Amoroso found herself making last-minute budget adjustments, including trimming the floral budget without sacrificing the elegant, lush look she had envisioned. Working with her wedding planner, the team searched for creative ways to add volume and texture while keeping costs under control.
The solution came from an unlikely place: the produce aisle.
According to PEOPLE, the updated floral rendering included a mix of flowers and edible greenery. Still, Amoroso admitted she barely looked at the final design after experiencing what she described as “decision fatigue” during the last stretch of wedding planning. She signed off on the arrangements assuming the unfamiliar greenery represented flowers she simply didn’t recognize.
Even during setup at The Cape in Cabo San Lucas, the content creator admired the arrangements from her bridal suite without realizing anything unusual was hidden among the blooms.
A week before the ceremony, her planner casually mentioned cabbage during one of their planning calls. Rather than questioning it, Amoroso assumed “cabbage” was simply the name of a flower she had never heard before.
Only later would she realize just how literal that conversation had actually been.
Looking back, she said the misunderstanding became one of the funniest — and most unforgettable — details from a wedding that otherwise unfolded exactly as she had imagined.

The surprise wasn’t revealed until the ceremony itself.
As Amoroso walked down the aisle and reached the altar, she finally had a close look at the floral installations surrounding her and her husband. That’s when she leaned over and quietly asked him a question she never expected to say on her wedding day.
“The second I got to the altar, I looked over at my husband and whispered, 'Wait… is that cauliflower?’”
The two immediately burst into laughter as they realized the elegant white-and-green arrangements weren’t made entirely of flowers after all. Mixed among the blooms were full heads of cauliflower, leafy cabbages and even clusters of green grapes, all carefully incorporated to create the lush, textured displays while helping keep costs down.
Far from being disappointed, Amoroso embraced the unexpected twist.
Speaking with PEOPLE, she said the edible arrangements became one of her favorite memories because guests couldn’t stop talking about them. Many were amazed to discover the vegetables only after taking a closer look, turning the florals into an instant conversation starter throughout the celebration.
The moment later went viral after Amoroso shared it on TikTok, where the video has been viewed more than 11 million times. While some commenters jokingly compared the arrangements to a giant salad or wondered whether her florist was secretly a rabbit, the bride said she wouldn’t change a thing.
Instead, she believes incorporating produce into wedding florals may become an even bigger trend — and she’ll always laugh when she remembers discovering those cauliflower and cabbage heads for the very first time while standing at the altar.
