Bride Brings Ceremony Outside Mom’s Nursing Home In Order To Have Her Witness Vows

As a result of the pandemic, Robyn and her current husband had to deal with the fact that her mother, Dorothy, wouldn't be able to make it to their wedding earlier this month. They decided to bring the ceremony to Dorothy and were married right in front of her window.

This is the story of a woman holding her marriage ceremony in front of the nursing home in New York City where her beloved mother lives. Due to the pandemic, her mom couldn't be at the wedding, so they brought the wedding to her!

Dorothy, the mother of Robyn, is living in Washing Heights, New York at the Isabella Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. According to ABC News, Robyn has visited every week, but the pandemic has caused quite a few changes.

Now only did Robyn have to start visiting with her mother from the garden area through a window, but it soon became apparent that Dorothy wouldn't be able to make it to her daughter's wedding.

Robyn and her fiancé have planned on getting married in the Spring of 2021, but the new restrictions made it so they wouldn't be having a big wedding. With the event now canceled, Robyn and her fiance decided to get married as soon as possible.

After a few visits, Robyn realized that the garden area where they sit to visit Dorothy would be the perfect place to become husband and wife. When talking about the idea, Robyn expressed how she knew that the outside area where they visited Dorothy was the perfect place for a small and intimate ceremony.

The next thing Robyn did was talk to the therapeutic recreation director, Jessica Garcia-Robinson. After hearing the idea, she was excited and ready to help make the idea come to life. Jessica and the rest of the staff at the nursing home consider Dorothy's family their family and they wanted to do what they could to make the event happen.

In order to actually do the ceremony, there were quite a few things that needed to be done through the state. Once everything was approved, Robyn only had a month to get everything ready. Finally, on Robyn's birthday, the couple were able to become husband and wife.

They were accompanied by a few members of their family and Dorothy, who was watching from the window. Robyn talked about how her prayers were answered when her mother was able to watch her get married, according to Patch.

Not only was it Robyn's birthday, but it was also her very first marriage. Having her mother there has always been her biggest hope and the nursing home made that possible.

The list of guests was small, but the word of a nursing home wedding spread through the city like wildfire. When they left the garden, they were met with many cheers and well wishes. There were strangers everywhere, including in their cars, in the windows of surrounding buildings, and on the street.

They were so surprised, and the happy couple was just expecting the little group of 10 people. After the ceremony, they walked out to an explosion of cheers and happy wishes. Robyn and her husband talked about how awesome it was to have so much support on one of the most important days of their lives.

It wasn't the wedding they had originally planned, but it's one they will remember forever. The important thing is that Robyn's mother was able to see it and she was able to marry the man of her dreams.
