Brad Pitt Turns 58 - Taking A Look At Old & Upcoming Films Of The Movie Star
Dec 18, 2021 by apost team
There are few movie stars as universally recognized as Brad Pitt. The man has been in countless iconic movies like “Fight Club,” “Ocean’s Eleven” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” And even as the actor turns 58 on Dec. 18, the Hollywood giant continues to act in critically acclaimed movies. In 2022 alone, Pitt is already slated to appear in three films — not to mention an additional two movies that he’s producing on the side. As he nears his 60th birthday, it’s clear that Pitt has come a long way since he entered showbusiness in the late 1980s. And he shows no signs of slowing down.
After a number of uncredited small film roles in the ‘80s, Pitt began to appear on television, portraying characters on popular shows like “Dallas” and “21 Jump Street.” He first gained recognition for his performance as a hitchhiker in “Thelma & Louise.” In 1992, he got his first chance to act in a leading role in “A River Runs Through It.” Then he went on to star in both “Legends of the Fall” and “Interview with the Vampire” in 1994.
Since his early work, Pitt has received many accolades and awards, including an Academy Award in 2020 for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” The star also does extensive charity work, supporting organizations like One Campaign, which combats AIDS and poverty in the developing world.
For Pitt’s 58th birthday, we’ll take a look back on his life while also exploring what’s on the prolific actor/producer’s horizon.

The acting superstar was born William Bradley Pitt on December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. His parents are Jane Etta and William Alvin Pitt. The actor has fond memories of his childhood, growing up in the midwest.
“Well, it was Springfield, Missouri, which is a big place now, but we grew up surrounded by cornfields — which is weird because we always had canned vegetables. I never could figure that one out! Anyway, ten minutes outside of town, you start getting into forests and rivers and the Ozark Mountains. Stunning country.”
Pitt found his love for acting at a young age, and it began with an interest in storytelling. The actor shared:
“As a kid, I was certainly drawn to stories — beyond the stories that we were living and knew, stories with different points of view. And I found those stories in film, especially. Different cultures and lives so foreign to mine. I think that was one of the draws that propelled me into film. I didn't know how to articulate stories. I'm certainly not a good orator, sitting here telling a story, but I could foster them in film.”
Although he was just two credits away from completing his journalism degree, the actor’s intense drive to become a star led him to drop out of the University of Missouri. Instead of sticking around for graduation, he drove to Los Angeles with the intention of enrolling in the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. But again, Pitt didn’t stick to his plans.

While doing odd jobs — like driving a limousine and delivering appliances — he tried to make it as an actor. His first big break came when he enrolled in an acting class, according to Biography.com. The young up-and-coming star accompanied a classmate to an audition and ended up leaving with the role after just seven months in La La Land.
Today, Pitt needs no introduction, as he is one of Hollywood’s most critically acclaimed and well-known actors.
While Pitt has several films coming out in 2022, including “The Lost City” and “Babylon,” his most recent role was as Major Roy McBride in the 2019 sci-fi film “Ad Astra.”
Manohla Dargis praised Pitt for his performance in the film, writing, “Pitt’s soulful, nuanced performance — which becomes incrementally more externalized and visible, as if McBride were shedding a false face — holds the film together even when it starts to fray.”
In a five-star review for The Guardian, the film critic Xan Brooks also heaped on the praise.
“Pitt embodies McBride with a series of deft gestures and a minimum of fuss. His performance is so understated it hardly looks like acting at all,” Brooks wrote.
For fans who have followed Pitt’s career, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, the 58-year-old actor has won two Academy Awards and been nominated an additional five times.
And luckily, it doesn’t seem like Pitt is eyeing retirement, as the actor is involved with at least five feature films in 2022. The 58-year-old will be behind the camera as a producer for “Blonde” and “She Said,” while he will be on-screen in “The Lost City,” “Bullet Train” and “Babylon.”
