Brad Pitt Says He’s On His ‘Last Leg’ Of His 35-Year Career

There are few movie stars as universally recognized as Brad Pitt. The man has been in countless iconic movies like “Fight Club,” “Ocean’s Eleven” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” And even though the actor turned 58 in December 2021, the Hollywood giant continues to act in critically acclaimed movies. In 2022 alone, Pitt already appeared in a handful of films — not to mention additional movies that he’s producing on the side. As he nears his 60th birthday, it’s clear that Pitt has come a long way since he entered showbusiness in the late 1980s.

After many uncredited small film roles in the 1980s, Pitt began to appear on television, portraying characters on popular shows like “Dallas” and “21 Jump Street.” He first gained recognition for his performance as a hitchhiker in “Thelma & Louise.” Then, in 1992, he got his first chance to act in a leading role in “A River Runs Through It.” Then he starred in both “Legends of the Fall” and “Interview with the Vampire” in 1994.

Since his early work, Pitt has received many accolades and awards, including an Academy Award in 2020 for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” The star also does extensive charity work, supporting organizations like One Campaign, which combats AIDS and poverty in the developing world.

While Pitt has an impressive repertoire, the actor recently revealed that he isn’t sure how much longer he’ll be in the acting industry. In fact, he considers himself to be on his last leg and is gearing up to slow down.

Pitt has been a notable star for several years now, and how he stepped onto the scene is just as interesting as his long-lasting career. According to GQ, he left college just two credits shy of obtaining a degree in journalism, previously hoping to become an art director. He had always been a fan of the arts but hadn’t realized his passion for acting. Pitt said:

“I’m one of those creatures that speaks through art. I just want to always make. If I’m not making, I’m dying in some way.”

The hopeful star moved to Los Angeles, taking acting lessons and working odd jobs to make ends meet. Fortunately, luck seemed to be on his side as Pitt began acting in 1987. Although his work was uncredited at first, Pitt made a name for himself soon enough and appeared in shows such as “Dallas” and “21 Jump Street,” as well as films such as “Thelma & Louise,” “Fight Club,” “Ocean’s Eleven” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

On top of his illustrious career, Pitt has also been a big name in Hollywood due to his public relationships with actresses. He was romantically linked to several co-stars, including Robin GivensJill Schoelen and Juliette Lewis. Pitt was also engaged to Gwenyth Paltrow, but the pair never married.

However, Pitt has been married twice – once to Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005 and another time to Angelina Jolie from 2014 to 2019. These relationships seemingly overlapped as Pitt and Jolie were seen together just one month after Pitt and Aniston filed for divorce. They previously met while filming “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” together. They have three biological children and three adopted children.

Even though Pitt has been in the spotlight since the late 1980s, it seems as though the world won’t be seeing him on the big screen or working as a producer behind the scenes for much longer. Speaking with GQ in June 2022, Pitt revealed that he isn’t sure how much longer he sees himself as a working star in the entertainment industry. He said:

“I consider myself on my last leg, this last semester or trimester. What is this section gonna be? And how do I wanna design that?”

According to Pitt’s IMDB page, the star has a busy schedule for 2022. He already has two films completed that he produced, and another set to release later this year. On top of that, he has more projects in the works in pre-production or filming stages with no release dates available yet. On the acting side, Pitt was in “The Lost City” and “Bullet Train,” and has two other projects in the works.

Pitt has accumulated a great fan following over the years, including his peer Quentin Tarantino. The acclaimed filmmaker said:

“(Pitt’s) one of the last remaining big-screen movie stars. It’s just a different breed of man. And frankly, I don’t think you can describe exactly what that is because it’s like describing starshine.”

Even though Pitt has several projects in the works, it’s clear that he is getting ready for a more slow-paced life. GQ reported that he now wakes up early to play guitar and drive up the coast to his beach house, where Pitt says he feels like he’s “taking off a cloak or something.” The star seems to be ready to embrace his full “authentic self.”
