In February, Brad Pitt won the award for Best Supporting Actor at the 2020 BAFTAs for his role in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

The actor himself could not make it to the ceremony, which meant his co-star Margot Robbie accepted it on his behalf. Pitt, however, wrote his own humorous speech, which was read out by the actress. According to Margot, Pitt was unable to attend the ceremony as he had 'family obligations' he needed to attend to. It was revealed this week by ET Online that Pitt skipped the BAFTAs to be with his 15-year-old daughter Zahara as she underwent surgery.

The revelation comes just days after hs ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, penned an essay for Time magazine describing her admiration for her two daughters as they both went under the knife. According to the actress, the essay was written in honor of International Women's Day on Sunday, as she was still with her daughters in hospital.

“I have spent the last two months in and out of surgeries with my eldest daughter [15-year-old Zahara], and days ago watched her younger sister [13-year-old Shiloh] go under the knife for a hip surgery,” Jolie wrote.

While she avoided naming them specifically throughout the essay, Jolie praised her daughters for “caring for each other” and “fighting to survive.”

“My youngest daughter studied the nurses with her sister, and then assisted the next time,” Jolie wrote. “I saw how all my girls so easily stopped everything and put each other first, and felt the joy of being of service to those they love.”

Jolie commended her girls as they 'faced their fears with a resolute bravery' and supported one another through that difficult time. She also explained that her sons were "supportive" and "sweet" as the girls were in the hospital.

Ending her short piece, she wrote,

“So my wish on this day is that we value girls. Care for them. And know that the stronger they grow, the healthier they will be and the more they will give back to their family and community.”
