Last night saw Brad Pitt win the award for Best Supporting Actor at the 2020 BAFTAs for his role in ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’.

The actor himself could not make it to the ceremony to accept the award which meant fellow actress Margot Robbie accepted it on his behalf. Pitt wrote his own speech, which was read out by Robbie, that included a joke regarding Prince Harry’s recent move to North America. The joke was recited with Prince William, who also happens to be the President of BAFTA, sitting at the front row.

“Brad couldn’t be here tonight due to family obligations, so he asked me to read his response for him,” Robbie read.

“He starts by saying, ‘Hey Britain. Heard you just became single. Welcome to the club! Wishing you the best for the divorce settlement, blah blah blah.’ He then says, ‘Thank you to the Academy for this extreme honor.’ He says he’s ‘always been a bit intimidated over here given the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and the titans that have come before, so this is especially meaningful.’”

Skipping over a few parts (Robbie did mention the speech was particularly long) she then mentions a joke of Pitt’s.

“He's gonna name this Harry, because he's really excited about bringing it back to the states with him.”

The audience immediately burst into laughter. The cameras then turned on Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton to film their reaction - and they looked quite amused, if also a little awkward themselves.
