Boyfriend Furious After Discovering That His Girlfriend Is Having A Girls’ Night In — She Is Flabbergasted

Getting into a new relationship sometimes comes with plenty of ups and downs. On one hand, it’s exciting to get to know someone new and find out all of the hobbies and interests you have in common, and also find out what makes the other person so unique.

On the other hand, it can be hard giving up some of your free time or taking away time that was once spent with friends and family and giving it to someone else. This is why finding balance in relationships is so important. Not only do you need to make time for your partner, but also for your other loved ones, and of course for yourself.

One woman had been dating her boyfriend that she called Will for a few months when she decided to throw a girls’ night in. It was something that the women in her group did, and they each took turns hosting the night. When her boyfriend found out, he was shocked that she would engage in something like that. When he was denied the chance to invite himself and his friends along, he called the woman a sexist and misogynistic for wanting to have a girls’ night in.

The woman was completely blown away by her partner’s response. Despite all of his complaints, she was determined to move forward with her scheduled girls’ night in. This resulted in a huge disagreement between the couple, and since then the boyfriend has asked for space. The woman went to Reddit on Nov. 10, 2021, asking users for their take on the situation.

In her Reddit post, the original poster (OP) explained that she has been dating a guy named “Will” for a few months, and that he already had the passwords to her main social media accounts as well. “He’s so sweet and funny and creative,” she said. He even fixes cars on his own.

The couple doesn’t live together, but they usually hang out at OP’s place every weekend. When he called to check to see what their upcoming plans were, OP let him know that she was hosting a girls’ night in with her girlfriends since it was her turn, but this didn’t sit well with her boyfriend.

OP continued, “I was confused as he started talking about how outdated and sooo 1950s those events are and said that I should stop promoting and advocating for those events as they are sooo toxic and flat out reek of misogyny.” Despite his rant, OP said that she still wanted to go forward with her plans with her friends. Her boyfriend then tried to invite himself and his friends along, but she refused.

“He called me a sexist and misogynistic for having a girls’ night in and making it so obvious instead of being ashamed of myself,” OP said. She was blown away by how mad her boyfriend got over the fact that she missed her friends and wanted to spend the night with them rather than him. They continued to argue, but OP was adamant that she was still going to host her girls’ night in.

OP continued, “I tried to call and apologize for lashing out later but he sent a text saying he was hurt by how I handled our small disagreement and needs time to process what he just found out about my personality.” OP didn’t want to hurt her partner, but she wasn’t willing to mess up her long-term friendships either, so she asked Reddit users to share their thoughts and advice, and received a lot of support.

Several users were sure to point out how troublesome her boyfriend’s behavior and actions were, and even encouraged OP to reconsider their relationship. She needed to think about which relationships in her life were worth trying to save.

One user commented, “Coming from a man, run away from this boy… Flipping out about a girls’ night or needing me time or any time separate from him is a huge red flag and shows how clingy and controlling he will be down the line.”

Others agreed and continued to comment on the man’s problematic actions. Another user said, “No offense but you’ve said that you’ve only been dating a couple of months and he throws a tantrum over you not picking him over spending time with your friends. That’s a red flag.”

A third user added, “...Take a step back and look at the overall picture. You’ve only been together a few months and he already has your password to your social media account? You’re thinking of ending hanging with your friends because he doesn’t like it? This is all very concerned controlling behavior.”
